How often do you clean a hamster cage?

how offten and HOW do you clean a hamster cage? Do you have to put new wood things in it every time you clean it?? HELP! ( thanks for any help you bring! )

When you can no longer stand the smell and yes I would replace the wood shavings.
u should clean it once a week and u have toc hange the shaving, how u lean it is take all out wash with water dry , put shaving in and all andur done
Normally once a week is fine if you are using good bedding like carefresh since it absorbs the smell of urine and is very comfortable for the hamsters. This cleaning must be an elaborate cleaning including washing the whole cage and all components like tunnels, food dishes, water bottles, wheels etc with soapy water and a mild disinfectant and drying them thoroughly before laying out fresh bedding and putting the hamster back in. If you feel that the bedding is getting dirty faster, change the bedding twice a week and the major cage cleaning once a week. Also the food dish and water bottle should be cleaned every second day before refilling with fresh food and water.
Okay Once a week,, or earlier if it stinks! Yes replace the bedding (wood things lol) Okay here is how i clean my hammies cage Boil hot water But it in the bottem of the cage (dump out the bedding tho lol) Put a TINY bit of soap Use a sponge and scrub it Then rinse it out Dry it Put in the bedding and TADA:D Also clean all the toys Food bowl Etc Good luck

You clean it once a week. You have to put new shavings in everytime you clean it for two reasons: 1. The hamsters health. 2. The smell of your house. Good luck with your hamster.
you have to clean a hamster cage once a week. and may i recommend carefresh bedding.
well i have a hamster and yes u have to take the wood chips out and if there is like poop and peee at the bottom of the cage u should like um put hot water and bleach and let it set for 5 minutes then scrub it with a paper napkin or something. then put the wod stuff in.... hope this helps
