What is the best cage size for a Russian dwarf hamster?
I have a couple empty aquariums that I would like to convert to hamster cages for Russian dwarf hamsters. Does anyone know the ideal size for a hamster cage? Also, would a 2.5 gallon aquarium be too small for one of these little guys? Thanks for any info!!

- my hamsters stayed in a cage about 1 and a half feet long and a foot wide and 3/4 a foot tall, and they worked out well in it. i also had a russian dwarf hamster and that was the size cage she stayed in as well.
- They need a cage around 30cm by 15cm base and 3 floors that may come to around £35 sorry but i dont know what that is in dollers. they need a cage that has has very small cage bars as dwarf hamsters tend to escape from cases as they are so small DONT put a hamster in a glass cage it cud kill it. x.laura.x
- 15 gallons are minimum for a dwarf hamster. For an example, my glass 15 g aquarium measures 24x15x10". 2.5 or 25 gallon tank? If 2.5, then it is waaay too small.
- Yeah, 2.5 is a little too small. I'd go no smaller than a 10.
