I want to build a better bird cage......?
I have a Sparrow, and I want to build her a cage. What is the best design to use, and it needs to be cat-proof. I want the bottom to slide out easily, for cleaning purposes. She is a small bird, but she loves to fly. So the cage needs to be big, but also good looking. Any help would be appreciated. I do NOT want to buy a cage. I want to build one. I am not asking for advice. I am asking for designs. And for you people who think youre smart in saying to just release her, I can't because ive raised her from a baby, and she is imprinted. She is too used to humans and cats, so that she is not afraid of either. She wouldnt last long in the wild. Have a *nice* day. Oh, and congrats on your 2 points, for a *pointless* answer. AND it is not illegal to keep HOUSE sparrows in CT.

- I have a feeling that it might be less expensive to buy a cage on sale at your local store. As for the rest, My cats really don't want it cat-proof.
- Ummm better check with your local state laws. It's illegal to keep sparrows in captive. But to answer your question, SafeGuard.com has some nice cages cheap. Good Luck!
- try to build a cage which is not too small. make sure the cage is huge enough for your size, no jokes....it will ensure that u can enter the cage and clean every corner of the cage. try to connect the cage with good drainae system, so that the smell of feces will be minimized.
- Let the bird go. Have a nice day.
- I don't know if you can keep a sparrow in captivity, but if you want to make a cage for it and you know how do it then do it. I guess it is better than letting it go and dying out in the wild. My cockatiels had baby's and killed the first 2 so I took the third one from the egg and raised it. Everything I read said If I had never hand feed a baby bird I shouldn't try, but if I didn't then it would have died. Now the baby is almost 3 months old, now if I hadn't tried then he would be dead. So I say, save the bird, do what you think is best. I don't know much about designs, so Good Luck
