Is it okay to put a bird cage beside the TV?
Iam just curious, Will the radiation from the TV harm my lovebird? Right now, the cage is put on a toy chest next to the TV. Iam not sure, so I appreciate if you can tell me. The more suggestions, the better please!

- It shouldn't hurt the bird unless it gets too hot.
- it won't hurt the bird, but you may get a lot of dirt in and on your tv
- I had no clue that tv gave off radiation but i think your ok. Just dont put it in front of the fireplace.Or kitchen because Teflon is bad for birds.
- I think too much isnt good. They love noise and light but not too much of it. Put him in a high place..they love that.
- I see no problem with it, as long as the tv isn't kept on really loud for 8 hours every day or something, heh. The only thing is, birds need 10-12 hours sleep every night. Is he getting that living next to the tv?
- The following is from a website which has questions answered by qualified medical personel, who are experts in radiation and it's effects. I couldn't find anything regarding a bird (lol), but this has to do with a newborn. "QUESTION: Does radiation emitted from television pose a risk to a newborn baby if the cot is placed near such devices? ANSWER: Modern television receivers emit very little radiation, as long as they are functioning properly. They are also designed to be fail safe. That is, any malfunction that could result in more radiation will disable the set. Conclusion: There is basically no risk from close proximity to a television set while it is operating. However, there should be no compelling reason to remain so close. S. - i dont see y not as long as you dont blare the tv
- It should be ok cause I have a cockatail and she is near my tv in my room but you know as long as you don't mind cleaning your tv quite often then I guess it is ok. It is amazing that for such a little bird as mine she can make such a mess. By fluffing up and all those little feathers going everywhere and she poops alot as well but I make sure she does that over her cage when I take her out. Does your bird make a mess far as throughing seeds and stuff like that out or do you have something on the cage to stop that. My bird she has 2 food bowls and 2 water bowls and you think that would last her quite a while. Well it only last a week so she does go through alot of food. Anyways the outer shells from her seeds get throun everwhere caus she tends to walk through the food bowl or some times decides to stand in the middle of it while she is eating it. I call that strange.
- I would not do this myself. And not just because of the radiation, which I'm sure is not good in itself. But my number one reason. If you have an older tube type set, it can have a static charge. Ever seen the hair on the old arm stand up next to a tube set. Even a little static can electrocute a little bird. Also when you dry your laundry, I always use unsented static sheets just in case my boy gets near the clothing. In the winter (at least here) static can be a problem. Not many people think about that. I'm just a very protective bird lover.
- I have two Senegal parrots....When they were IN FONT of the TV they were happy!!! They learn and it keeps them occupied.....I don't believe there is any danger!!! Dahrma
- No, close to a TV is not good for any living creature, including people. Is dangerous, Not to mention too loud for a bird that can hear for miles! Birds cages should be placed out of the line of traffic/people walking by, but in the same room with people. The back of the cage should be against a wall, this provides the bird security from anyone or any thing from scaring it from behind. Cage should be so he can watch the family & feel apart of without being startled by a suden appearance of us. * Always look at the bird and talk to it as you walk closer to his cage/house. Respect him this way every time. Cages should not be close to the floor, drafts can cause ilnness's and even death.
