Cage

What kind of cage is suitable for two dwarf rats?

I know they are around the size of large mice and hamsters when full grown. Can they live in a large mouse cage? What size is resonable? Thanks. I said rat not hamster.

  2. hmm im not sure but i have a dwarf campbell hamster and hes living in a cage called Habitrail Safari and its really good. It has a wheel and a cozy house hut and space at the bottom for a tissue roll and chew sticks. So thorught my personal expireence i think habitrail safari is good if your rats are a bit larsh then try getting a aquium tank thas small size and put hay and food bowl and wheel and stuff and build ur own! =) Hope that helps
  3. I have two male dwarf hamsters...both together are the size of one of my hands. I'd go with just a wire cage (with the wires spaced close together so they won't escape) I know petsmart and petco have start up cages for them...we got one at petco for $30 and it came with a wheel, food, water bottle, food bowl, one tube, and a little platform that hangs on the cage. It was worth the cost.
  4. Yes, a mouse cage would be perfect, don't put too much stuff in there because they will not have space to play together.
  5. They should still be in a rat cage. The average rat requires a minimum of 2 cubic feet of space each. I'd say a minimum for dwarfs should be 1.5 cubic feet of space each. Here is a cage calculator: http://www.fancy-rats.co.uk/information/guides/cagecalculator/ When you find a cage you like, put in the dimensions to see if it is large enough.
