- my hamsters wont let me pick them up either so when i clean there cage i put them in one of there little containers and close it you have to use your finger to put them in it but thats not to hard clean you cage with a touch of vinegar and make sure you clean it out so you cant smell the vinegar hope this helps good luck
- You need to handle your hamster everyday, he may never let you pick him up through choice! Just grab him quickly and hold him firmly, but don't squeeze. Slowly loosen your grip, over a few days you will find he will relax (and so will you!). To clean him out have a box ready and go for it!
- do you have a roll about ball thingy? if so carefully try to pick your hamster up over the cage put him in the ball and quickly put the lid on and tape it shut
- ok i would get really thick gloves so if your hamster try's to bite you or scratch you he wont be able. then carfully i would pick him up and put him in a box or something so he doesnt escape then clean his cage then put him back in his cage.
- Easy. If you don't have a door in where your hamster stays, (Living room, bedroom, etc..) Get something big enough to block the rest of the house so he can only run around in one room, be carefull you dont have any holes anywhere. If you have a door. thats ok for a normal hamster, if you have a dwarf hamster and you have a door, get like a coat the block the bottom so the hammy cannot squeaze through it. then you can easily clean the cage while ur cute hamster is running around the room ^_^ I always do that with my tiny cute dwarf hamster, he loves it.
- Firstly, use this as a guide to tame your hamster.. It takes a lot to gain such a tiny creatures trust, and it's going to take patience on your part. Start by passing treats through the bars of your hamsters cage, if not treats pass it's normal hamster food, just so your hamster knows not to be afraid of you as you give him/her food. Next, start placing your hand through the entrance of the cage, allow him/her to take food/treats from your palm, from between your fingers etc.. When your hamster is awake re-fill it's water and food, this way they will realize your feeding them, and will associate it with something good every time he/she see's you near or around their cage. Start putting him/her in an exercise ball at night times, this way it will soon realize you also give them some free time... Plus most hamsters LOVE the exercise ball. Find a really large area such as a large cardboard box, a bath tub etc.. And start sitting in it with your hamster EVERY single night, it NEEDS to be consistent if you want this hamster to start trusting you. Allow your hamster to sniff your fingers, stroke him/her, give it treats, allow your hamster to climb on you etc.. In time he/she won't mind being picked up, walking from hand to hand and such. Don't' wear gloves, and always wash your hands before attempting to handle your hamster. You should buy an exercise ball and wait for your hamster to climb into it of it's own free will and then allow it to run around whilst you clean the cage. It may take some time.
- first pick him up in something or wear gloves and then put him in a hold place where he cant escape and wash the cage :)
- place something inside the cage that he can walk on then lift him up and place him in a different cage. then clean it :)
