  1. Sure Just make sure it has a firm bottom with Hay or either newspaper,PineBedding,Woodsheddings,Ect. Make sure they have plenty of toys and places to climb.
  2. I dont see y not......
  3. A bird cage is fine for rats. My flatmate has just bought some little rats and her cage is a three foot tall birdcage that she added levels to herself. The rats love it. The best thing about hers is that it has a removable tray in the bottom to make cleaning easier! Bird cages are great for rats because they're generally quite big, they're tall, rats cannot escape from them and most of them are easily accessable. My friend got hers on eBay, and they have some great bargains on there!
  4. no!!!
  5. yes i have my rats in a bird cage they seem more happier in it i think its because there is more room and just more air then a fish tank that i had them in its big 75 gallons but they didn't seem to like it to much but i have them in a big bird cage know and they stick there noise's out and clime on the bars and you can put more levels in a bird cage then you can in a fish tank and more toys...so i would say go for it ...and there a lot funner to watch....and there just overall happier....
  6. Yes, it would definitely be okay. The only problems are that you have to have a place to latch the rats' water bottle and that it has a firm floor. If you add levels, it would be best to connect the levels with little metal ladders. My hamster has a cage with three levels, and it has little ladders for it to get around. This is mainly just a safety precaution, because the animal might get hurt if it jumps from level to level.
