Cage

What size Bird cage is suitable for all birds?

I looking for a bird cage that will suit nearly all birds as a have several other cages for my current birds (different breeds) and I put them in different cages regularly (big and small) so I can transport them or move them to different places in the house. ALSO WHAT SIZE CAGES ARE MOST PEOPLE COMFORTABLE WITH? All opinions are welcome

  1. Get a cage as big as you can but make sure the bar spacing isnt to big because the smaller birds can get stuck in it. I wouldnt reccommend putting different breeds of birds together because i have heard of people's storys where their birds have known each other since they were babies and then they still ended up chewing each others toes off and stuff, although budgies and cockatiels are good togher, that wouldnt hurt.
  2. different birds - different cages. depends on the size of teh bird-mainly its head and its beak strength. if its head can get thru the bars then it can get caught on the way back. the feathers are pointing in the wrong direction for this and catch on the bars. bird then fights to get away and breaks its neck. Bars should not be wider than teh birds head. Wings get caught in the same manner. Get the right cage for the bird. beak size and the ability to do damage with power determines material used for teh cage and bar size. Rule of thumb is bigger bird bigger bars. The bigger teh cage teh better.
  3. the questions is; what size of cage are most BIRDS are comfortable with? They should have a saying on this . the cage most be spacious enough for the birds to expand their wings and fly around it . I was recomended to use one foot long cage for every bird. that means if you have 2 birds the space should be 2 feet long .
