Cage

Can a small dog in a cage be allowed on a bus in Amsterdam?

I am going to be in Amsterdam for approx. 8 hours to get onto another airplane to Poland. Im bringing my maltese dog in a small cage. My parents and I would like to go around Amsterdam, but I was wondering, are dogs allowed on a bus in Amsterdam? Or in a taxi? Thanks =)

  1. Yes
  2. In Amsterdam your dog is allowed to travel for free in public transport as long as it is in any kind of carrier. As bus and tram can be crowded people will be glad if you travel with your dog in a (small) flexible bag rather than a big rigid case, but either is allowed. In most taxis you will not have problems with transporting your dog either. Most will even allow it when just on a leash. But to bring your dog out into Amsterdam you will need to pass the airport security and border control people twice. Are you sure the paperwork for the dog allows import into and out of the Netherlands? If not, do double check before traveling into Amsterdam. It will be very frustrating to miss your flight because of a walk in town. And do take enough time to return to the airport and go through security and so on.
