How do you make an aquarium a hamster cage?
Is there anything you have to do to it to make it hamster friendly? Also, if you have any pics to show me of a good size black bear hamster aquarium/cage that would defiantly win best answer! OK, I know about the ventilation thing that's why I'm asking! Do you poke holes in it lol or what? I know you can use them I just don't know how to make sure it is a nice, safe cage for my hamster. OK duh guys, there is no water in it.

- Step 1) dump out water.
- you don't, there wont be enough ventilation in it.
- Srry i don't hae a pic, but you take out all the water (:]) fill it up with that bedding stuff, food, a hamster, and if it's big enuff it will be FINE! :] good luck!
- Drain the water out. ;-) Seriously, though, an aquarium should be able to convert to a terrarium fairly easily as long as you have what your hamster needs and the rig to mount his water bottle and things like that. Some cedar shavings and a toilet paper tube and the little dude is good to go.
- First you should equip you hamster with a little SCUBA tank..
- i have one, it needs to be rectangular. the only difference a hamster cage has from an aquarium is that the hamster cage has a top that fits on (you can buy this in the pet store) with holes in it, bedding(for the hamster), a wheel, food, a little home(like a piece of wood with a hole in it, also in the pet store) and water (in a special ontainer that the hamster can drink out of) :]
- this tells u everything
- An aquarium is a very favourable hamster cage as it is easy to clean and very good for a "viewing" tpye of cage. However, it has poor air circulation that may cause complications to your hamster. Example: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2154/1734727572_631b68aca2.jpg?v=0 The classic wire cages are good too for your hamster to climb and exercise however a hamster can easily chew through it and escape. It's also hard to clean. This is a good wire cage: http://www.animalanticsonline.com/items_images/1181580677Liberta%20hamster%20cage%20102h
- ahh i had a black bear hamster but it died like 3 weeks ago :(....he stayed in an aquarium... get a rectangular aquarium that is about 30in X 15...any heighth would work because u will also need an aquaruim cover. you can find them practically anywhere. to start it, put lay a piece of newspaper on the floor of the aquarium, then put an inch or 2 thick of cedar wood shavings. put all natural hamster food in a ceramic bowl, and buy a water bottle thats made for for aquariums (look at petsmart or petco). then put aarge wheel...dont buy to small of one cuz black bear hamster grow quite a but. also buy a covered housing dome. hamsters love them and they will be its favorite place. add a couple of little chew toys and a treat. good luck with ur hamster :)
- well i would not use one if the holes get2 big bye-bye hamster!!
- I used to have a hamster in an aquarium and I didn't have to poke holes or anything like that. The aquarium already had a lot of openings at the top so the hamsters did fine in them. Just make sure you clean the aquarium before putting hamsters in them, but I'm sure you probably knew that already.
- i have some pics please observe them http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fei%3DUTF-8%26p%3Daquarium%2520hamster%2520cages%26fr2%3Dtab-web%26fr%3Dhp-pvdt&w=500&h=375&imgurl=static.flickr.com%2F3193%2F3086460240_4d2375d62a.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fmelissa-lee%2F3086460240%2F&size=152k&name=Cheesepuff&p=aquarium+hamster+cages&oid=8254503dcbfac03a&fusr=affinity84.&hurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fmelissa-lee%2F&no=3&tt=27&sigr=11ksbnek4&sigi=11gptsqvf&sigb=1399gce1p&sigh=119e16mq7 http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dglass%2Baquarium%2Bhamster%2Bcages%26fr%3Dhp-pvdt%26ei%3Dutf-8%26x%3Dwrt&w=249&h=183&imgurl=hamsters.petwebsite.com%2Fimages%2Faquarium.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fhamsters.petwebsite.com%2Faquariums_hamster_cages.htm&size=8k&name=aquarium.jpg&p=glass+aquarium+hamster+cages&oid=96559b77b96ca3f2&no=1&tt=1&sigr=11qgbq01u&sigi=11bnsp9p6&sigb=135dl9ho2
- Please note when selecting the bedding material for your hamster nest, use pine or alder shavings, prepacked and dust free as possible. NEVER use CEDAR shavings as this may cause medical conditions such as itchy skin, scratching, liver problems and lung and respiratory problems for your hamster.
