Can you use a bird cage with closely knitted wires for a Chameleon?

Im looking forward to getting a chameleon soon. But first, I want to make sure I have all the nessecary things. Would a bird cage with close wires (nothing big enough for a small chameleon to fit through) be ok? Or do they prefer the black screen stuff on recomeneded cages? Let me know! Also, what species of chameleon do you recomened??

1. i would reccomend a jacksons chameleon and a bird cage would be fine but you have to keep it humid
2. i love jackson chameleons and listen to the answer above make sure to keep it misted and such. and also make sure the wires are tight enough so when you feed crickets, they cant escape!
