What is the best cage to get for a bunny to grow into?
I have a bunny and got him about a month ago. I want to go ahead and get him a new bigger cage that will be best for him for the long run. I am looking online and nothing really looks that big...anyone have rabbits and have some advice? thanks!

- I have 2 rabbits, i got a 2 Storey hutch with a detachable run, they have lots of space and they also jump around in the run when it's warm!
- If your bunny lives inside, the cage door should always be opened for him to have free run of the house, but not if you can't supervise him. If your bunny lives outdoors, a bigger cage is a good idea. Bigger breeds tend to be the ones that require the bigger cages. You can buy a cage from a pet store or you can make your own cage with wood, caging wire, hammer and nails, and a thin piece of rafter.
- If your rabbit is indoors, check out these condos: http://www.leithpetwerks.com/indexpage.cfm?category=1 Or exercise pens marketed for dogs work great, too (and are inexpensive): http://www.sandiegorabbits.org/adoption/pen_living.html
- Puppy excersise pens make fantastic housing for rabbits. It gives more room than any other cage, and you can "move" it to fit a certain shape.
- if you know what his adult weight will be or can estimate how big he'll get, then calculate one square foot per pound of rabbit. usually an 8 week old rabbit will double in size. When deciding on a cage to buy, save yourself the time and money and avoid a solid bottom cage. Use a show rabbit cage with a wire bottom. It's considered the ideal cage for a rabbit. You can put blankets or special pads on a part to let him rest his feet on. You can purchase them on the following sites. You will not find them in pet stores (possibly feed stores) http://www.woodyswabbits.com/ http://clover.forest.net/kwcages/index.html
- You want to get a cage where your rabbit can stretch fully in. (Once he/she is full grown). You want to have your cage where he can play a little in... enough room for it's food and water. If it's an outdoor rabbit, I recommend that you get a rabbit cage that has an indoor part in the cage and an outdoor for fresh air. The indoor part has to have what the top of your roof should have... waterproof. If it's an indoor rabbit, make sure he has an area to play around with, on the floor... make sure to keep all things unsafe or electric away from it. I also recommend that you should get another bunny for it, so it won't have to play by itself. If your not willing to get another, make sure to spend extra time with it. If it's a girl, please fix it, once they get older, they can get cancer. If you have a male rabbit, still fix it.. in case you get a female. Make sure to feed it and give it fresh water everyday. The more you play with it, the less it will stomp at you (the bunny telling you to get away), and the more it will interact with you. Be sure to bring it to a vet if anything happens.... or if it doesn't look good. Have a good time with your rabbit!
- Prevue Rabbit Cage - 47" I just bought this one. It is spacious, has a large pan underneath, and 3 doors. Having it up high, saves on your back, and the wheels make it easy to move around.
