  1. Bleach the snot out of it and it should be fine ...
  2. Is the new dog up to date on shots? If so, clean the cage with half/half of bleach & hot water. If not, i would not risk it. Parvo can stay around for many years.
  3. Parvo can live in the environment for a long time. (Years). The cage you can presumably sanitize (bleach kills just about everything), I'd be worried about the rest of your house/yard. (note, you need to have an extended contact time in order to kill the virus, not sure of exact numbers... consult your vet) If you are getting a puppy, make sure to keep him out of areas your old dog was in that you can't bleach down properly until such a time as he's been fully vaccinated and his immune system is 'up to par'. I'd suggest calling the vet you are planning on going to, and see what suggestions they have to make sure your new dog doesn't become infected. Let them know you had a puppy with parvo, who has been dead for a year, and you want to be sure the next one doesn't get it too.
  4. Parvo can stay on your property for years. You need to spray your yard with water & clorox. 3 tlb spoons of clorox to one gallon of water. Spray everywhere the old dog was. Including in your home. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=treating%20yard%20after%20parvo
  5. Make sure the new dog as irs parvo shot and bleach the hell out of the cage. You also need to bleach your home and yes yard. 3 tablespoons per gallon of water will do it.
