- Of course! As long as it has enough room!
- yup just try not to keep in in for more then 8 hours answer mine? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApYxarxVhk54q7EMGWnIbi3sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090421161439AAEI40S
- yes
- Yeah. My dog always goes in his cage at night.
- i think that's okay since it is at night. just make sure to give him a blanket, water, food, and some toyss.:D
- Yes, while potty training dogs many people including me put ther\ir dogs in cages while they sleep.
- thats so mean! wats the point of havin a dog if u never play wit it n its always caged up? gawsh! u shud be arrested 4 child abuse!
- You may think that "keeping" your dog outside all day is sufficient exercise. WRONG. You need to take your dog for a brisk walk, twice a day, 45 minutes each.
- So if he's in a cage all night and outside all day, when does he get to spend time with YOU? With people?
- it's fine
- Yes but remember to take the dog outside for the potty first.
- I thought you were talking about your girlfriend, kinky man. Pssh.
- Yup! But maybe he'll bark. They dont like it.
- yea i did that to my beagle. as long as he has enough space. dnt keep him in there too long. hell start whining. & he needs his excersize
- as long as he has room to stand up and move around it's Ok...just be sure he has plenty of play time after you let him out.
- My dogs used to sleep in their kennels at night, and stay outside all day. They were probably inside for about 4-5 hours a day to sit with the family. Nothing horrible ever happened to them. Although, now they both stay inside the house all day because I started to feel guilty.
- yes mine sleeps in a crate too. always take your dog to the bathroom right before going in the crate and right when you take him out.
- as long as he has enough room
- yah its ok as long as it has room and you let it out at sometime
- Its actually a good thing to keep a new puppy and let him live in his cage for a week. It gives him a lot of comfort knowing that he is safe. But don't leave him there forever, that's just cruel.
- Well, labs need a lot of love, so it might be better if you let it sleep with you in you bed, or at least in your room.
- yeah that is actualy good! they think of it as there own personal space and room. my friends dogs love to sleep in there cages!
- Yes a lot of people do this, as well as keep them in a cage when they are not home. That is usually done while they are potty training though.
- Why have a dog? Sounds like you have no time for him at all.
- yup, thats called kenneling - we do it to both of our dogs and they love their kenels - its like its their bedroom, their own personal space.
- yeah i kept my boston terrier in a cage at night. They get use to it. Every time i opened the cage she knew it was time to go in.
- It's alright, they might bark or cry all night, depending on how they act. If your dog doesn't do that then it's all good to do. As long as they have plenty of food.
- make sure the cage is more than big enough for him. If you can move comfortably around inside it then it will probably big enough for him. Make sure he can stretch out.
- Well, I'm a vet and puppies need lots of human interaction. If you keep him kenneled up at night then throw him outside all day, it doesn't sound like he's getting much love. It also depends on where you live. If the weather is nice I think it's ok for him to be out most of the day but he should be allowed to come inside and play with your family. It sounds like neglect if he's always cooped up or away from the family. Just make sure you treat him as a family member and not as a pest.
- I guess it is ok, but I let my dog sleep on my bed. She sometimes goes in her cage when she needs some quiet time to herself or it just gets too stressful. Maybe leave the cage door open so if they need to get out during the night to eat or drink?
- Cage training for dogs has actually become a very popular form of handling smaller dogs. It is probably not the best for larger dogs, unless your cage is very large also. The American Dog Trainers' Network has a resource with how this is useful. http://www.inch.com/~dogs/cratetraining.html
- yea thats fine :) just make sure to spend some time with it too (walks, fetch, etc)
- It just depends on what the size of the dog and cage.I have a small dog that wants you sleep in his cage it gives him comfort. He will be fine just make sure he isn't in there more than 8-9 hours .
- What do you think Kennels are for???? ...shakin my head
- It is perfectly fine as long as it has water and plenty of room
- Oh of course hunny!! I own a kennel (Im a dog trainer and train dogs) and they all stay in kennls/ cages so no sweat they will be fine.
- yes its fine. but why isnt he allowed in the house? just wondering, actually dogs love there crate because its nobody elses.
- Yep absolutely if fact it is very good for him. He will come to know this crate as his own safe space!
- Why do you own a domesticated pet and leave it outside all day then leave it in a cage all night. I've never understood this ? Maybe others could explain why they say it is OK ????
- My aunt goes to work during the day and leaves her dog in a cage for about for the the time it would take for you to do whatever you have to do overnight.
- its fine, i recently got back from a weeks of work experience at a vet, and some dogs are in cages for a few days and there fine. as long as you bring him out every while so he can wee wee.
- No it's not ok,if you get BURGLED your dog can't do much if hes locked in a cage what good is that,if you don't let him in the house you SHOULD'NT HAVE a DOG.How would you like to be KEPT OUTSIDE all day and then locked in a CAGE at night. Good GOD people like you make me BLOODY MAD.Your Dog won't know what to PROTECT if he ain't allowed in your HOUSE,plus it will be a total strange enviroment for it,
- i kept my poms in their crates overnight till they were completely housebroken.
