Does anyone know where to get an excellent hamster cage and accessories?
I am getting a hamster in the next couple of months and I want to make sure I have everything ready before I actually go and get the hamster. Does anyone know where I can get a great hamster cage/accessories?

- I would recommend watching the flyers for your local petstore then, when stuff is on sale, go and get it. That's what I did with my hamster and I saved a good $40 on the cage alone.
- Ummm. A pet store would be a good place to look.
- Make a bin cage. As far as accessories go, all you need is a food bowl, a water bottle, bedding, and some rodent feed and you're golden. It also pays to provide the animal with a sleeping house and nesting material. Many of these items can be bought or made cheaply: -Plastic storage bin $5. Search online for bin cage designs and ideas -Aspen chips $3 -Stainless steel cat bowl for holding hamster food $1 -Rat/Mouse pellets $2.50. Rat and mouse pellets are a better food for hamsters than the seed mixes actually sold for hamsters, which are too fattening. -Water bottle $1.50 -Empty tissue box to serve as a sleeping house... really now -Shredded tissue paper is dirt cheap and makes good nesting material. Jut make sure to use plain tissues, not special lotion tissues or scented tissues. If you want, you can use the inexpensive cotton bedding made for rodents instead. There you go.
