I might be getting an indoor rabbit and I need some tips to keep the cage clean and not smelly. Does anyone have any tips or secrets for smell reducing?

- Animal safe cedar bedding and frequent cleanings.
- i dont have an indoor cage, but i would suggest using kitty litter! i dont know if its a good idea to keep rabbits inside, they do get smelly but its worth a try!
- Hi I have a rabbit for 2 years and there is nothing you can do. But clean the cage very well because if you don't, you'll get stains that will never come out. I reapeat NEVER
- you might be able to use vinegar and water but clean it often!
- The best thing is to clean it often so it doesn't have a chance to smell. You will also want to buy bedding that is absorbed. (spelling?) Make sure to purchase plenty and use the appropriate amount. Also, make sure to buy appropriate to the animal you get, I buy the dust free kind for my Russian hamster as they are prone to sinus problems from dust. I know it sounds kinda snotty, but think about it. They have very small sinuses.
- Be sure you get a cage with a wire bottom and a tray below to put bedding in to absorb the urine an reduce odor. The only way to control odor is by keeping the cage very clean. You don't need to fill the pan with shavings, as the rabbit will pee in the same place all the time. So you will just have to put the shavings where they pee, as the urine is the odor maker. Most good rabbit pellets contain Yucca to reduce odor. You can also buy Yucca as a powder to add to food (I never have). Also, having hay available will add fiber that helps keep the pellets firm and dry, which helps them fall through easily an keeps the cage floor cleaner. Be sure to buy or make a cage with the correct wire bottom. here are some links for info. http://www.cuhumane.org/topics/rabhse.html http://www.barbibrownsbunnies.com/housing_your_bunny.htm http://www.lopsandcavies.com/Rabbit_Cages.htm http://www.bassequipment.com/default.aspx http://www.rabbitweb.net/hutchsystem3.asp
