- Well... the gloves will never, ever make your bird trust you... Just open the cage door, and leave it that way. Put a dish with treats on top of the cage, and let the bird explore the top of it's cage... it'll be fine.
- Just teach the bird to step up, if you don't teach him early he will be harder to teach and more stubborn if you wait to long. When you get him out put him on a perch or play set to give him some time outside the cage. Then work with him, he will be less territorial outside the cage. If you afraid of getting bite then the bird is in charge not you. When you show him your not afraid of him he will come to depend upon you more.
- Yeeah, dont use the gloves. Its afraid of hands thats all. And gloves are bigger than hands and arent soft at all. What i have been doing seems to work great. ( i copied this video ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqRR6nugtp0 It seems to work for my tiel but it doesnt fly to me yet.
- Get rid of the gloves. Those will never help and a tiel may have a bad bite but it would only be a flesh wound at the most. Follow the method above by letting the bird explore a bit. Try stick training by getting a stick and using it to have the bird to step up on the stick then it may start getting more comfortable with being handeled by you. Every week shorten the stick a little until you eventually are just using your hand to pick up the bird. Birds are very cautious and sometimes it takes time to earn their trust.
