  1. well, if you have seen branches or wooden perches in a pet store, you will realize they have a hook attached the end, you can drill a hole in it and screw in something that will hold it up in your bird cage...hope it helped..:)
  2. if your talking about the premade ones with the plastic clip like things slide it on at an angle one side at a time
  3. Not sure what type of bird you have but this should apply to most. You can wedge the branch in between the bars.. or use some twine to secure the branch to the bar. You can use just about any type of string or rope. They love to chew on string, so check it every so often.. don't want them to swallow the string. Get creative with the branches, if you have the room, hang a branch from the roof of the cage, so they can swing upon. Got this from another site but applies if you're using natural branches... Most fruit and nut trees are fine to use as are ash, elm, dogwood, and magnolia. Grapevines can also be tried. Cut the branches to fit the cage, scrub and clean them well with detergent, rinse, and dry in the sun. Check for insect egg pods and remove before placing the perch in the cage or the egg pods will hatch in the cage. It is recommended to heat natural branches for 45 minutes in a 200ยบ oven to kill any insects. edit: Ok, so if its just to secure, I'd still go with the twine idea. You can use just bout anything to secure the branches. ribbons, laces, even fishing lines will work. (for a little fun you can slide a tiny bell or beads onto the string to play with) . Tie or loop the line around the branch and secure it to the side of cage. Go as far as making a hole into the branch with knife tip or screwdriver and pull some twine through for a better grip. There are metal clips used for millet that work great as well. Have fun
  4. It's not a good idea to pick up sticks from outside to use in your bird cage. Some woods can be toxic to birds of they chew on them or any leaves still on them. Find a list (or ask an avian vet) to tell you what woods are safe or buy ready-made perches from bird websites.
  5. If you take a stick out of your back yard it is the worst idea to put it in the cage. It could have mites, ticks, and fleas, the only kind of branch you should put in the cage is one that you buy from a store that is treated wood. and to get it to fit you have to pick the right size.
