- About once a week is enough.
- You can never change the lining too often. Daily is ideal, but if necessary you can do it once a week.
- well if the cockatiel poos a lot then about once in two days would be best for its cleanliness. if the cage is large, once a week should be enough. if the cage is small then once a day. but there's never a limit to how much you can change it- it doesn't harm the bird in any way.
- Depends on how big your cage is. Once a day is best. But if you can't, every other day or every two days can't hurt.
- The more often you clean any birds cage is better for you and your bird. Black and white (not colored), newspaper is the most common and one of the best cage tray materials and has several advantages. It is often on hand anyway, is fairly easy to change daily, and allows you to easily check the bird's stools and note changes that might indicate illness. But it is not very absorbent, often the size doesn't fit the tray without time consuming cutting and folding (you can now purchase paper especially cut to the size of most brands of caging) , you may not be a subscriber, your paper may use a lot of colored ink, and the ink may be staining your bird's tail feathers. Some people use white paper towels or purchase newspaper end rolls to eliminate the ink problem. Paper is probably the bedding of choice for humid areas where bird owners need to be extra careful of bacteria contamination. Paper is the medium least likely to support bacterial growth.
- once a week is fine. BUT make sure that the bird cannot access the poo, most bird cages come with bars that go on the bottom. dont make the same mistake as me! untill a month ago i always left it out but then my budgie got fungus from the poo n water mixed and then i stupidly let it in our avary and now all the budgies have it and its extremely hard to get rid of! because of cross contaminaton they also get it on their mouths from picking at it off their feet
- I always change mine every day. I want my birds to be healthy and live long.
