Can I use a guinea pig cage as a hamster cage?
I have 3 guinea pigs already and I have an old cage they used to live in. I'm planning to get a hamster and am wondering if I can use the guinea pig cage.

- yes you can use the guinea pig cage
- No they will escapes. Where did you get your guinea pigs from?
- No , they will most certain get out and escape.
- It depends on the bar spacing. Most guinea pig cages have bar spacing that is too large for a hamster. A hamster can squeeze its way out of very tiny spaces(pretty much anything his head can fit through). I would say anything over 3/8 of an inch is too large.
- I would say no. The cage bars on a guinea pig cage are much bigger than on a hamster cage. They could easily slip through the bars. But you can get hamster cages for pretty cheap at pet stores.
- how far apart are the bars if they are 1/2 inches apart then yes.if not then no because they will escape.
- Hi :) Well it really depends on the bar spacing on the cage. Anywere the hamsters head can fit its body can fit through. If the bar spacing is about 1cm- 1/2 of a inch then i am sure it can. But if it is more then 1/2 of 1 inch then i would not use it. If you provide a picture of the cage then i could tell you if they could live in it or not! I will keep watching for more details! ♥Hamster lover♥
