Cage

What is the best hamster cage for my russian dwarf hamster?

I have a habitrail X right now and my hamster keeps going into the wheel and bringing hay and when he runs it all goes flying around my room. also he docnt have enough room. i would love a cage that is big enough for like 3 toys and he an have fun going through tunnels but the wheel is open instead of having holes in it and being on top of the cage and stuff.

  1. At one point I had a Crittertrail 2 connected to a 10-gallon aquarium for my dwarf hamster. She had tons of room!
  2. A Cage with Bars should be good, more circulation and it conducts a hyper behavior :)
  3. hiya, i have 2 russian dwarf hamsters and they live in a rotastak like the one on this webpage,http://www.ukpetsupplies.com/Images/Products/Rotastak/21829_lg.jpg but they only live in the biggest part, the circular one on the top and the green box shaped one. it is all joined together by tubes that the hamster can easily fit in to and you can add or take away parts you dont think your hamster can use (like i did) they come in black blue and pink. you can easily fit 3 toys in and a wheel, mine sleep in the green box shaped section, eat and drink in the circular one and play with an open wheel, log toy and other toys the main part. you can also change where the water bottle goes as it can fit wherever a tube goes and u can change the design around. xxx

  5. I have the habitrail dazzle, and one of those rolly balls I can put him in to let him run around the house. He seems happy enough. But if you want more space for him, you can always add on another habitrail cage, and connect with lots of tubes. They make lots of different toys and attatchments to go on those cages.
  6. I would actually recommend an aquarium. You can get them in different sizes- I have a 10 gallon for my two dwarves, Trixie and Tallulah. You can't attach tubes to them, but you can put them inside the cage so he can crawl in them. They have plenty of room for toys and wheels and the like. Also, it's really fun to tape things to the back of the tank to decorate it- you can't usually do that with other cages, so that's a nice bonus. They're very customizable in that way!
