what's the best hamster cage to get for a growing hamster?
I have a plastic base metal cage type of habitat but my hamster seems to be growing out of it and he's still just a baby. Which habitat do you recommend and why? Please share your experiences. Thanks.

- I suggest a large glass tank so he doesn't throw bedding all over the room. A tank that looks like a large fish aquarium should work well for a growing hamster.
- if its a Syrian - the bigger ones-- one with bars they love climbing - if its a drawf -- one with tubes they love them n they could squeeze through the bars
- I recommend a metal cage that is insured for a large hamster, because it gives him the room he needs to grow, One thing i don't recommend is a plastic cage in till you know he is not growing any more because one day you can wake up and he could try to go through a tube and get stuck it is a chance and a risk i took and learned. =] Hope I Help! - Well first if it grows more than a few inches long and gets big you may be dealing with a hamster..It could be a guinea pig or even a gremlin LoL. Just get a cage or aquarium that is around 10 gal. That should be fine for the little guy.
- I built a cage out of two big, old speakers, with mesh over the holes where the speaker cones used to be - it was awesome! :) I had about 12 different levels all the way up, with ladders between them. If you are able to build something, do it, but don't forget to be careful with (a) leaving sharp stuff that the hamster will hurt himself on, and (b) making it easy to escape!
- well I have a hamster website with a goos page on cages it is: www.freewebs.com/hamsterhow2 It will be constantly updated if you need any more help Also I have multiple Deluxe Rat Homes I think they are by super pet... and I use them for all my hamsters and love them. They are super easy to clean, plenty of room, and anything in cage you could ever want. They are a little expensive but well worth the price!
- Well I would suggest getting a two level cage so that you can put all of his toys and exc. on the top floor so that there is still plenty of room for roaming on the bottom level. Here check this out. www.zooplus.com/.../cage/jack/1/300/19534_1.jpg
