- I don't know about ducks but a few friends of mine have geese (wings clipped) and their cages are only 3.5-4 ft tall. I think your duck should be fine. Unless you are worried about something climbing over the cage.. then I don't know.
- that should be a good cage. it should work out fine. are you looking at keeping duckie inside or out and how old is this duck going to be or is it. babys grow fast!
- I would ask at least 3 different vets for advice.
- The height of the cage sounds fine. Just make sure ducky has an appropriate amount of head room without having to crouch down all the time. However, how much floor space does it have? And for what purpose are you using the cage? Transportation, showing purposes, housing. If it is for housing, they need at least 4 square feet of floor space, and plenty of time to get out and exercise. For an outdoor duck - a size appropriate and insulated dog house which has a wind/draft guard will do the trick, surrounded by a good sturdy fence, which is closed in completely (which means a covered area) and plenty of room to roam. Say, another 8 square feet. Hope I could have been of some help.
- I knew someone who was keeping ducks as outside animals she had them in a small dog kennel, so it was six feet tall with a follen tree in there, this was a home for 5 ducks and had a small kiddy pool inside. If you are planing on keeping the duck 24/7 in a cage and if's not for food then i would suggest a dog kennel with added wire at the top. or you can easily build one but it needs to be a good size for a pet outside duck, and maybe try getting a companion duck, this is if it's a pet
- 3 Foot 5 is plenty high enough for a duck. Most of your cage requirements have to do with how you plan on keeping the duck.If it is a raised cage then that height is fine. With a flightless duck you may wish to compensate by giving extra square footage to the floor space. The more space you can give them the better off they will be.
