How to get my dog to stop urinating in his cage.?

1.5 year old dog that has regressed back to urinating in his cage. Cage is divided in half to make it smaller.

1. If he's regressed after being crate trained, I'd first have him checked by the vet to make sure it's not a health problem. If it's not that, is he maybe in his crate for too long?
2. Teach/train him.
3. If the vet says he's healthy, has there been a change in his environment? If not then retrain him. Don't give him water or give him very little just before you know he will have to be crated. (My pups don't get water after 8). Also take him out a little before and a little after the crate. But make sure that something in his environment hasn't caused him to regress. Maybe he's just acting out.
4. Vet check first. Don't put him in the cage except to sleep. Find a way to have someone check and let him out to go during the day if he's all alone.
5. He may have a urinary tract infection. You should have him checked by your vet -!-
6. I was just researching this for a friend of mine. Yes, decreasing the size of the cage can help. Also, I heard someone say puppies can hold it about one hour per month of age. You might want to note his water intake. A good formula to go by is: 90ml of water per kg of body weight. Too much water can make them have to go too often. One more note. It may be a behavioral problem instead of a biological problem. If you have a camcorder, set it up so you can see when he goes. Perhaps the mailman or the doorbell ringing is spooking him and causing the accidents. Once you figure out what works for you the other remedies can be ruled out. Please don't ever discipline your dog for going potty inside!
