There are tiny little white bugs all over my animal cages? Hi, so I'm moving to a new apartment and to reduce my cat's stress level during the packing and moving and un-packing process I have purchased the Feliway comfort zone spray and diffuser products that Dr.Foster&Smith's website recommends. I am using these products along with a few other stress-reducing actions (such as not having the cat in the room during the process of moving boxes as well as un-packing all my stuff and having my furniture already arranged the way I want it before bringing my cat to the new apartment). My only real concern is this: I do have small animals (hamsters and soon mice as well), will using the Feliway comfort zone products near their cages cause them any respiratory or other health issues? I've never used air fresheners or any other type of spray near their cages, however I was hoping that this would be safe for them. If not I'll just have to keep the hamster cages in a room separate from the cat's stuff with the door shut for a week or two. Thank you.

Why does PETA degrade women to help with animal rights? I know that the women that are naked holding up signs over their chests, and dressing like animals in cages are volunteering, but why does PETA degrade women so much? If they are for animal rights, shouldn't they try to not degrade people in the process. What can the public do about pet shops keeping their animal cages dirty? My husband and I have both come across situations where we saw an extremely dirty litter box in a pet shop and we went up to the clerk and told them that it's dirty. This just happened to me last week and I told the clerk, the cat is having trouble finding a clean spot to poo in, and she said, no, there supposed to do that. Then I went to a different clerk and said, the litter box is dirty and the cats are having trouble using it since they can't seem to find clean spots to use. And she said, okay, I'll tell someone. I went to the pet shop about an hour later and the litter box was still full of cat poo. My heart was breaking for the poor cats to be in such awful conditions. But, what can we, the public, do to change situations like this?

Questions about using a Hazmat-type coverall suit to avoid transmitting diseases between separate animal cages? I have several coops/shelters/runs in my backyard for poultry and game birds as well as a brooder with chicks in my house. In the last 3 weeks there have been several unexplained deaths amongst each group of birds as well as strange health problems and I'm worried that the reason may be some airborne disease or bacteria that I've been unknowingly spreading from the infected group to the next when I go from one coop to another coop to feed them. If that was the case, would wearing a Hazmat-type coverall suit help any in preventing this? I know that sounds extreme but I'm sick of watching my birds die as well as showering and changing clothes every 15 minutes just to go from one coop to the next. It would be a lot easier if I just had something I could put on over my clothes when I go into each coop instead. I would buy several of them (the cheap $5 kind), one for each coop, so I wouldn't transfer anything from one coop to the next. But would this be effective? Or would it transmit anyway if that's what the problem really is?

How much more suffering must be caused by dangerous 'KILLER DOGS' before they are put in cages? I visited the Animal Shelter today. Now Im so sad. I wish I could help all the animals there. Their cages? were cold and small. Will an ionic air purifier get rid of that kind of smell, or just larger particles like hair and such. If not, guess ill get something else. Anyone know or had experience?n Its getting irritating.
why do people keep rodents as pets? isnt it cruel to keep an animal in a little cage? i think it should be banned. it is animal cruelty, why do people do that?

R there any Californians that would like to stop animal cruelty? Since the animals don't have a voice, I would like to speak for them. Signatures are needed to stop the caging of farm animals, like calves for veal. They purposely keep the baby calf in a cage where they cannot move at all before they sell the veal. How can you get funding in Canada to open an animal rescue shelter? I love animals more than life itself and we have way more homeless animals than we do shelters to put them in. I have huge planes to open up my own animal rescue shelter. I will need lots of land because the shelter I am planning on opening will have big enough kennels that the animals will actually be able to run and not be in tiny cages. I have all the planes and everything drawn and worked out but I need to find some funding to help me with getting the land and everything set up. It will be a non proffet shelter. Can anyone help me in finding out how to get this started thank you so much.
Is it safe to volunteer at an animal shelter when you are pregnant? My husband and I are trying to conceive. I have just started volunteering at the local animal shelter, which includes playing with dogs and cleaning their cages. I know that I shouldn't clean up cat feces when I'm pregnant, but is it safe for me to continue to work at the animal shelter with the dogs once I become pregnant?
A local teacher has been charged with animal cruelty and now some parents and students want her fired. Fair? I'll provide some details but not my opinion. The community I live in is deeply divided over this issue and I think the YA community debate will be just as lively. The teacher in question has taught at the school for over 20 years and is still teaching classes while the school board reviews the case. She'd recently begun running a dog breeding business out of her home and over the past year some neighbours complained about the dogs being mistreated. Despite repeated complaints, animal control officers refused to come out and inspect the home until a dog carcass was discovered on the property. Armed with a search warrant, they entered the house and found 28 dogs which were severely malnourished and living in filthy conditions (they were all locked in tiny cages). Animal control removed the animals and the teacher was arrested and charged with 32 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. Many parents and students have begun a campaign to have her fired from her job. Should she be fired? Msg for Moon: Please know I've read your post and appreciate it more than I can say. Also, I have no children and thus have no direct involvement on whether or not this teacher should lose her job over this. I happen to love animals and am always repulsed when they are abused, but I'm not certain this woman's abuse of her breeding dogs can be used as grounds for her dismissal from an occupation which is unconnected. Why is it that people who call themselves animal lovers are some of the same people who abuse them? Why do people have several huge dogs in small places where they can't truly be a dog, and why do who love cats set 20-40 cats loose in a house and never clean up their feces? It seems to me if someone was truly an animal lover, they would not be so selfish, and would consider the animals happiness before their own. Bunnies in cages, and dogs on chains never look very satisfied with their lives to me. Maybe some people claim they are.... but they sure don't look it.
Does anyone have a real-life story about a household animal that you have owned escape from a cage, playpen? I'm looking for some good stories about a hammy, guinea pig, or anyother animals, that you have had escape from a playpen, cage, ect.........(non-fiction) (Happy endings only) One time, My guinea pig, Mitchel, was in a short playpen in the living room, while i went in the kitchen and cleaned out his cage. As i finished, i went in the living room to grab Mitchel (i didn't think he was tall enough to climb out) But he did. As i franticly searched, i found him behind my livnig room chair. I set him back in the playpen, and watched, as Mitchel heaved himself over the barred wall of the playpen, and scampered away, but not far before i could catch him. Ha, and now, when he has to get out of his cage, we put him in my safe basment. Then when i come down, i try to find him. He loves to play that game. I call it our version of "hide and seek" but he REALLY doesn't want to be found, that would mean that it is time to go back in his cage. :-D
why do people keep animals in cages? i feel so bad for the animals who are in zoos or are abused. a lion would not be running around where i live unless one got out of a zoo and if the people didnt put them in zoo they wouldnt be hear!!!
Where can I find extra large cage liners for my small animal? They need to be at least 25"x37" and disposable. I thought of using puppy training pads, but can't find any of those big enough either.
isnt it cruel treament to animals to keep them in cages? like rodents kept in ten gallon tanks by themselves ? or even with other rodents....doesnt this seem horrible to anyone but me? i have two pet gerbils and it makes me so sad to own them because i see them run on there wheel for hours and just chew stuff, i have made then habitats as nice and large as i can but it still seems horrible, i wish i had never gotten them ,everytime i look at them i feel bad.
