Large Rabbit Cage Knowledge Base
Where can I get an extra large rabbit cage with two stories? I looked everywhere, but they just aren't big enough. I want my rabbit to be able to run around in his cage. He has gotten very big, and his cage just isn't cutting it anymore. I want two stories, so there is adventure in his cage, but I want two full stories, and possibly a little nesting den. It has to be a cage that works indoors. I just want BIG BIG BIG!! hahaha thanks for your help :)
Do you think my rabbit cage is large enough for two rabbits? The dimension are 36.25"L x 16.25"W x 15.25"H Right now I only have one rabbit living in there and I am assuming it is too small however I do have a fairly small rabbit. I want to make sure that it is large enough for two small/medium sized rabbits. Opinions and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
What size cage should I get for my Flemish Giant rabbit? She is a baby now and in a large rabbit cage but is fast growing out of it. She gets a lot of time to romp around the house but needs to be caged at bed time and when I am at work. She is a house rabbit so she will not be going outside to live.
Large Rabbit stretching 2ft is needing a new Large Cage PLEASE HELP!!!? My very amazing 5 year old rabbit needs a new cage. He is an indoor cage so I am looking to get one for indoors. When he lays down he stretches aprox. 2ft long so i am looking for quite a large one! Price isn't much of an issue and I do not want to build one. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Large expansive rabbit cage? I want to get a mini rex rabbit that is around 3lbs. I want a large roomy cage for him, not one of those tiny petco things. I would like it to be around $70. l live in P.A if that helps. Thanks in advance Oh sorry I meant inexpensive, not expansive. Um, I looked at http://www.bbbshoe.com/ and it was a clothing site. ???
Will Guinea Pigs be happy in a Rabbit Cage? I have a large Rabbit cage, which has a standard basin bottom, but the cover is mostly clear plastic on a slope, with the top being wire door that opens up. I am planning on getting two female guinea pigs after the summer, and I was hoping I could use the cage again for them, but I am worried because of the plastic siding. I know the guinea pigs love to climb up and gnaw on their cage wires a bit, so I am afraid the plastic will be harmful for them, or some how reduce their oxygen. Other than that, the cage is very long and wide, so they have plenty of running space, and it is easy to clean. Any ideas, suggestions? Should I bite the bullet and buy a geniune guinea pig cage, or will they be ok in this more enclosed cage? I will, of course, be giving them plenty of Floor and Lap time during the day, but I want to make them as comfortable and healthy as possible. The cage also has a water bottle attachment, so no worries there. For those of you pointing it out, yes, I've made sure that it's not a wire bottom. It's just a plastic basin with higher walls than a standard hamster/guinea pig cage, so, very easy to clean out the shavings and the like. Also comes with a corner litter box that can be removed. I normally made it into a cozy-style corner for my dwarf rabbit.
Any suggestions for building a larger rabbit cage? I have one cage that I have my rabbit, Isis, in but she's starting to outgrow it. Since I don't have a lot of extra money at the moment, I was hoping I could add on to it somehow but I'm not sure what the best or cheapest way to do this would be. I spent $50 dollars on the cage and would prefer to keep the cost of add-ons under $40 if possible. Yes, Isis must be kept in a cage because I am currently in a rental house that doesn't allow freely-roaming animals. It is a wire cage with a tray in the bottom, about 3 1/2 ft by 3 ft with a door in the front. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Can you use a rabbit cage for a ferret if? You take the ferret out for more than 2 hours a day for play I was thinking of using a large rabbit cage until a can get a bigger cage and the ferret is just a baby right now so it's not like it's crammed.
I have a large rabbit, which cage is suitable for him? I have a rabbit which is quite large. He is very big for his cage, and I have decided that I want to buy a new one. Here is a picture of my rabbit to show his size. He may not look that big in the picture though. http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x474/_zephyrus/DSC_0905.jpg It would be great if people could recommend the size of hutch I should buy. I live in Australia, if that helps. Thank you. He is a very cute rabbit. Um, I actually have no idea what breed he is. I have had him since he was little. One parent was white, and one was grey (hence his colouring) but yeah. Thanks for the help. :)
What cage do you recommend for a pretty large rabbit? I think he's either a rex or an american? Thats what it says on petfinder. The humane society recommends a 36" long x 36" wide x 24" cage except I can't find one that has those dimentions. Can you please help? What do you recommend?
Whats the best website to buy large stackable rabbit cages? Im looking for affordable stackable cages. I have a lot of bunnies that were unexpected and i have accepted that i now have to take care of them. What is the best website to buy large stackable cages? Preferably 4 stack and under $150. Thanks for your help!
Large enough rabbit cage? I am constructing a rabbit cage by using those shelving grid things and I have limited space because I am keeping them in my bedroom vs. the living room where they used to stay because no one ever went in there. They've had a number of housing changes-one in a really small cage and then one in a wooden hutch- then both in the hutch-then both in a 30 X 30 cage (I think it was like 18'' tall maybe). The dimensions I have planned for the new set up is 45 X 30 X 30 (inches) (It has to be so tall cause I am not putting a top on it right now. Do you think is will be okay for 2 rabbits? You want me to seperate the rabbits? I had them seperated because we had one and then adopted another from rescue...I've worked hard to make them happy with each other and they have finally bonded! You want me to seperate them? Indoor rabbits and yeah they do get out of cage time but only supervised because we have cats and dogs and such. They are a lionhead and dutch so that is all I can tell you as far as size. At least an hour out each day (I am gone between 2 dif. houses a lot) and then when I am home all night I usually let them out in the evening for a few hours just to romp around. They are getting more lately then they used to because they were in the living room and no one went down there and it was too hard to secure it for them so I would have to bring them and a litterbox into the kitchen and then close it off which was obnoxious. Finally, I moved everything into my room so they are getting more exercise + getting more interaction with us and the other animals. Step by step i'm trying to make improvements for them! Aww (Joe H) your rabbit is a cutie!
I NEED a Rabbit Cage? I just received a very large rabbit from a women and he is very friendly an sweet. The problem is she gave me the rabbit it a 30L" cage with no removable bottom. The amount of droppings this rabbit "drops" Is CRAZY. (who knew). I'm looking for a larger cage with the pull bottom. Any Suggestions?
Suggestions for a good, large cage for a rabbit? I'd prefer to buy the cage to building it. It could go up to about $300, but I'd prefer somewhere around $200 or less. He stays inside but I could put a hutch in my room, it just needs to be large. The reason he needs a bigger cage is because we've moved and I no longer have a door for my bedroom, so he has to stay in the cage most of the day whereas he used to have free-run of the entire room. This is the cage he has now http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753290&lmdn=Pet+Type My rabbit :) http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k269/Tigger93_01/Picnikcollage-1.jpg I would prefer to buy not build but I have thought about a C&C cage for him. How did you do the doors on your cage? Is the bottom made of coroplast? A babygate actually wouldn't quite work as I have 5 cats who would just hop right over, otherwise I would do that.
how large does a rabbits cage need to be? we have 3 adult rabbits an a litter of babies willbe going in tom. since they are weaned the cage is 5ft long an 4ft wide an theres a wooden box built around the cage where they can also get in the back of it its 5 ft long an maybe 2.5 ft wide with hay etc tokeep them warm is this large enough?
Rabbit Cage Question??? So I have a Mini Rex that is a bit bigger for a Mini Rex (fatty!!!) and she has a four foot HUGE cage. I am getting a French Lop (huge frenchie baby!) and she is going to need a need a cage. I only have a 50$ dollar spending limit but she needs a large cage! Dog kennels or cat kennels work fine too but could you help me find a large rabbit cage that is within a 50$ spending limit??? Thanks!!! I LOVE links!
Rabbit Cage Questions for people who truly know about rabbits and rabbit supplies.? I have a very large rabbit, she is mostly likely a mix, and has pretty much outgrown her cage (approximately 40 inches by 18 inches). I am looking for an extra large cage, but the only ones with enough substantial space seem to solely be made and ship in europe. I am looking for something at least 42 inches by 24 inches or so, and having relatively little luck. If anyone has any knowledge of any that might help my "little" rabbit find a nicer home, please send in an answer! Any (serious) thoughts on this are greatly appreciated! :+)
I have a very Large Rabbit....? I have a very large rabbit and i was wondering if there is any place that sells large rabbit cages or hutches. My rabbit is about the size of a terrior. lol every cage i look at seems way to small i would like one with 2 levels and a lot of space. thank you
Please help! How do you make a fairly large guinea pig cage!!? My cage is WAY to small right now and I plan to buy a cheap rabbit cage for them or make a hutch. (I have 2 guinea pigs) I want the cage/hutch to fit on a standard sized washer and dryer. Please can someone tell me how to make a fairly large cage for less then 80 dollars!!?? Or where to find a decent sized cage for a cheap price! (In Winnipeg) HELP!!! Anybody who gives a GREAT answer that really helps me will be chosen for best answer. :) I have 2 cats so I really need to have a lid!!!
Cage Size For a Large Rabbit? I'm adopting a 14lb male New Zealand from a shelter. What size cage should I get? He will only be in the cage when I'm not in my apartment. He'll have free run of the place when I'm there to keep an eye on him.
What do you use to line your rabbit cage, and why? Do you use a seperate litter box, if so what is in it? Do you have a seperate bedding area, if so what is in it? I have read a lot of different things about it, and I want to know what people use and why. I know some people say no woodchips, some say pine is ok. Or low dust. or whatever. I'm not really a fan of the woodchips. Right now I am using a cage that is entirely too small, but I didn't plan on ending up with three baby rabbits. I don't have a safe (dog proof/childproof) place for a larger cage until the basement reno is done (which will hopefully be in a few weeks) so I am wondering if should use more of a litter type product for the bottom. Right now I am using baby blankets, but they need to be changed everyday because of the poop, and I have enough laundry! I am hoping that if they are familiar with going litter then when they move to a larger cage they will go in a littler box with the same litter. Any personal experience is greatly appreciated. Pigglets, either the dog or toddler would kill the rabbits. One has to be reasonable, and while I could train the prey response out of my dog (eventually) I don't see how I can train a 1 year old to be gentle, all the time, every minute of every day. Or not pick up the bunnies by their ears/legs.
Any ideas for how to transform an extra large dog crate into a rabbit cage? I have a blue/white dutch that some random person passed off on me. He's really a wonderful sweet rabbit though. Since I wasn't expecting anyone to hand me a rabbit and walk away, I didn't have the necessary supplies ready for him and he ended up with a guinea pig starter cage (that's the best I could do with my finances at the time). Anyways, he's too big for the cage and all the other rabbit cages seem too small as well. I want him to have more space since he really likes to run around in his cage and stretch out, so I'm thinking of converting my unused extra large metal dog crate into a cage for him. My main questions are as follows: The crate is missing the plastic bottom, how can I make a new cage bottom that has a wall of a few inches? I would still like to be able to use bedding in this new cage. How can I create shelves in the crate for him to get on and how to get said shelves secured to the cage? Any other tips/ideas? Thanks. Also, my rabbit is a male (probably not neutered). Should he have a friend or is he ok by himself? If so, male or female friend? Obviously, if I were to get him a female friend I would have him neutered first. A puppy pen wouldn't work, it would have to be a cage for his own protection because I have 2 dogs. My rabbit does get time outside of his cage to run around when my dogs are outside, but he still needs a bigger cage.
Rabbit Cage? Im looking for a large rabbit cage plan for my small rabbit that can be divided into two each with its own hutch and living area incase i get him a friend
purchasing rabbit cage! Does anyone know where I can get an extra large rabbit cage for a really cheap price? I live in Canada so by the way. I've seen some really cheap ones and it gives free shipping. But it doesn't include Canada. Does anyone know any sites? Can you also tell me if there is taxes and shipping costs and all that?
Does this cage look good for a dwarf rabbit and two rats to live in together? (pic included)? I currently have a fairly large rabbit cage for my dwarf bunny but he gets loney at nights and I think needs a bit of stimulis as rabbits are basically nocturnal (he sleeps all day and goes nuts every night!) . Here is a picture of the additon to his cage I want to add for two rats (please excuse my bad skills with MSPAINT :P): http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/4233/cageplans.jpg Room 1A, 1B and 1C are already there and thats where the bunny lives, I want to build room 2A on top of it for two rats to live in, the opening that goes down into the bunnys rooms will only be big enough for the rats to get through so that bunny doesnt disturb their space. What do yall think :) ? oh and 1 more question: Whats better, 2 boys or 2 girl rats?
Can a large and small rabbit live together? I am not looking for a speech on how rabbits all need their own cages and can not live together. My rabbits are much more happy living with other bunnies. I love them very much and would never put them together if I saw anything otherwise. So what I was wondering, is if a large rabbit can live in the same cage as a small rabbit? If they were male and female, spayed and neutered, and got along well, could they live together, or would the big one accidentally hurt the smaller one? Here are a couple pictures. http://s1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff479/reginafalange2/?action=view¤t=Things046.jpg#!oZZ2QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs1237.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff479%2Freginafalange2%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DThings042-1.jpg http://s1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff479/reginafalange2/?action=view¤t=Things046.jpg#!oZZ1QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs1237.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff479%2Freginafalange2%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3DThings046.jpg I like to make my cages... so they can be as big as needed. :)
Could I keep a rabbit with two large male Guinea Pigs? The Guinea Pigs are 3.8 and 3.2 pounds. They get along with eachother fine and have a large cage....could I keep a rabbit with them? (i would have another cage just incase it didnt work, i wouldnt just dump the rabbit off on the street) but do you think it could work?
What is the best cage for a rabbit? We have a rabbit and need to find a bigger cage for her. What is the best cage for a rabbit? Could a large c&c cage work? We can't let her have free range so we have to find a bigger cage. Right now our cage is 43.5" L X 22" W. Thanks Ok all i need is a bigger cage......do you know of a cage that is really good for them, what size is the best?
Can you use a C&C cage for a rabbit? I can not find a wide/tall enough cage for my large rabbit. Do you think a C&C cage would work? Do I have to buy the chloroplast or watever? If I put the grids together and stick it on a table and put fleece down and its litter box would that be okay? I'd probably stick a hut in there too.
Looking for rabbit cage ? i cant fine a decent size cage for a large rabbit. Ok Who's selling a cage in canton ohio or mass ohio? Let me know thanx. I'm not willing to build it if anyone suggests it.
What rabbit cage??? Okay... well. As some of you may know, that I have a female mini rex rabbit (love her to death!!!) Well, my friends rabbit had kits (baby bunnies). So, now I am getting one (almost positive). My dwarf rabbit Frodo, has the largest size of indoor cage possible. We had to special order it!!! The rabbit that I am getting, is going to get HUGE!!! So I am going to put the large rabbit in my huge cage, but I need a cage for my dwarf. It needs to be SUPER CHEAP!!! Could you help me find one???
Is this an okay cage for a large breed rabbit? http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3307+10627+38+15280&pcatid=15280 Follow the link. I'm planning on buying a baby English Lop Rabbit and I want to know if this cage would be big enough and appropriate enough for a rabbit. I know, I know, it's a dog crate. But I know people who use dog crates with their rabbits so I don't think this would be much of an issue. Please feed me your advice.
Large/good sized rabbit cages under $60-70? I need a large rabit cage and don't say ebay/craigslist/amazon. I already looked and there is nothing good. My bunny is growing out of his cage. Links are very welcome. Thanks.
Is there a website that makes large rabbit hutches, or makes custom ones? I feel in love with this bunny at a pet store. I already have two bunnies, but I really want one more. The problem is that it is an adult lop eared bunny, and it's way, WAY too big to fit in a normal cage. A good sized hutch would be five feet or more. I was also thinking of maybe just getting a large exercise pen, or a five foot rabbit run and using that as it cage. I'm not sure what to do. Can you help me?
is it ok for a ferret to live in a large 5 - 6ft rabbit hutch? im getting two ferrets in a few months time and im planning on keeping them outside in a large, two storey, wooden rabbit hutch. would this be ok? bearing in mind that i live in the UK so its obviously not as hot as the USA climate (although it probably is today!) i will have a spare cage to bring them in during the day if the weather gets to hot, although my landlord won't allow them in the house all the time. Is there anyone who keeps there ferrets outside, in a large rabbit hutch, in the UK? any advice? tips?
Large rabbits and cages...help please? I am adopting 2 large rabbits on sunday one is a large mix breed rabbit we are unsure of what he is and we are adopting a large lop eared bunny as well the sex of the bunnies are unsure of because the one lady does not know how to tell and the one at the shelter (its the only rabbit there) the vet has not checked yet it just got to the shelter the day they called me and asked if i could take it sooo i have 2 Jumbo sized rabbit cages but i am worried they may not be big enough i have not seen these rabbits in person i have only seen a picture of the brown one (he was going to go to the shelter but the lady that works for the shelter emailed me and asked if i had room for one more) i call it a He because he looks like a boy to me he has the weight classifieds of a boy but anyway ..should i try and get a larger cage for both of them? these cages are about 4ft long and 3feet tall they are pretty good sized but im still worried about it...they wont be in there all the time i have set up a play area for them in the ferret room what do you think? thanks for all your help
Rabbit cage question? ok so i took some advice from you guys and started looking for a large outdoor rabbit cage for my bunnies that we are adopting on sunday and i found a great deal but it comes with a bunny LOL so 3bunnies but i don't know if this cage will be big enough its 2mini lops and a mini rex that will be living in the cage (part time only ) yes they have a large play room in the house for the heat of the day and for the night ...so the cage is 2x4 whatever that means...do you think it will be ok? I should have made it clear 2 of them are sisters and have been friends for awhile i have a very large room indoors and a few cages for indoors until they get used to each other...and the 2x4 cage will be temp only. just for a few months until we can build a larger one we have it marked off to have half cage with a open bottom with a fenced in part to keep them into there spot its going to be a huge play area for the bunnies for the outside i just wanted to know if this cage will be ok for 2months max time They are all females
A good indoor rabbit cage? I'm thinking about buying my boyfriend a rabbit for xmas and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good indoor cage. I'd like to find one that would fit a fairly large rabbit (that's what he wants) and hopefully doesn't cost an arm and a leg! :) I am definetly going to get one from the humane society. Probably a spayed female.
People with English Lop Rabbits or large breed rabbits, I need cage help.? I'm interested in getting an English Lop kit, but I have absolutely no idea on what kind of cage to get the little guy. If you could please give me cage dimensions or shoot me a link of a good cage for a large breed rabbit that would be great. Oh, and the rabbit would probably spend about 8 hours in the cage a day so a big cage would be a must.
Guinea pig cages and rabbit cages? I really want to get a cage for my to-be pet guinea pigs! I can't get any coroplast or cubes around here... And i know store bought guinea pig cages are to small but do you think I can get an extra-large Rabbit cage for my 2 Piggies?
Help - Rabbit Cage + More? My friend and i are going to buy a rabbit. We can get a new large cage wch will cost £75 from our local pet store, but i just want to know if there is any Second Hand large cages around about £20 - £40 to be owned? It is a boy as well, so will i need to get it neutered? and does it cost anything? Help!
Rabbit Cage specific question? I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on the Luna 102 Hutch for rabbits. I have an extra large rabbit, but i believe this would be the best cage as long as the bottom is supported by something. If anyone has any thoughts on this, that would be appreciated! :+) Also, i really do like the idea of the attached "hideaway" so if there are any other cages similar to this, seeing those would be appreciated as well. Here is the link: http://www.marchioro.it/en/luna.html
Is it safe to put a mat in a rabbits cage? I currently have a smaller male rabbit. He lives outside in a larger cage. I was wondering if It would be safe to put a all natural "mat" in his cage? Not to cover the whole thing or anything. Just something for me to put food on. (The cage is off the ground and has a wire bottom with some huts to hide in)
Rabbit Cage Conversion/Bedding? I have a fairly large rabbit that weighs two to four pounds. I am going to be converting his cage a little bit. This is his cage: http://images.hayneedle.com/mgen/master:PRP123.jpg I am going to take out the metal grate in the middle, because I've recently litter trained him, and I am not going to need to clean his cage out every 4 days. So I'm going to put some bungee cords under the plastic part on the bottom, to keep it from falling, but I'm worried that he won't have enough room. He barely has enough now. He has a plastic rabbit igloo, a litter pan, his hay ball, food bowl, and water bottle. He is only in this cage for a few more months, because I'm working on an outdoor hutch for him. I might put something on the side on the middle so he will have a little more room, like this (except without the grate): http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41rVkbP%2BxGL._SS500_.jpg would this be a good idea? My other question, is what bedding would be good to put under him. I am currently using the recycled paper bedding for his litter pan, but it's pretty expensive,a nd I know that cedar and pine (i think?) are not good for them. So what are some cheap, healthy bedding for my rabbit? I don't have that much money to spend on him a month.
What can I line my rabbit cage with? I have a large French Angora rabbit and because of his size he doesn't fit in any cage i can find. At the moment and to prevent sore hocks since i plan on showing him i have him in a large guinea pig cage. I tried putting a litter box in there full of carefresh bedding, but that got matted into his fur and it took forever to brush it out, so i tried newspaper, but he crumples it all into the corner to lay down. what can i line my rabbit cage with that wont get stuck in his fur and won't get him filthy by no absorbing anything?
Rabbit Cage Question??? So I have a Mini Rex that is a bit bigger for a Mini Rex (fatty!!!) and she has a four foot HUGE cage. I am getting a French Lop (huge frenchie baby!) and she is going to need a need a cage. I only have a 50$ dollar spending limit but she needs a large cage! Dog kennels or cat kennels work fine too but could you help me find a large rabbit cage that is within a 50$ spending limit??? Thanks!!! I LOVE links!
size of rabbit cage? I have a rabbit that is 7 and 1/2 pounds right now and she is still growing. I bought her a new, bigger, cage about 2 months ago, and she already has outgrown it. (we were not aware of how big she would get because we don't know her breed) I want to either build her a big cage, or buy one, but I can't seem to find one that would be big enough. Because she doesn't come out of her cage everyday, I want something big enough for her to get some excersize. She is very active and I feel bad about her not having ample room to play and get rid of her energy. I have looked all over online, and in stores for larger cages, but the ones I find either aren't big enough, or don't work with where I can put her cage....if anyone can give me ideas for a cage I can build or somewhere I can find a large cage, that would be great! Thanks! Thanks for the answers so far. She is an indoor rabbit (i'm not a fan of keeping them outside either)...she's part of the family. I know that for a rabbit you should have a cage 4 times it's size, but part of the problem is I don't know what breed she is, so I'm not sure how big she's going to get...altho if shes the breed I think she is, she will get 3-4lbs bigger. She also was abused before I got her so she has some neuological problems, and jumps differently than a normal rabbit, and she also spazzes out sometimes, so I'm afraid of her hurting herself if she doesn't have enough room to play and jump. I wish we could just let her run around the house and play with the cats all the time, but because of her neurological problems, if she's not in close range of her litter box she will have accidents. She is liter trained very well...she normally get's let out during the evening in our living room and she knows to go back to her litter box if she has to go.
Cost of care for a large rabbit? I am a college student on a budget living in a small apartment, and I would like to know the monthly costs of a large rabbit such as an Angora or Flemish Giant. Also, is the size of the environment, such as the cage, a big concern? I'd appreciate hearing from any rabbit owners, even about smaller rabbits. I wouldn't mind a dwarf if it is significantly cheaper.
what can i use in my rabbit cage? I have a rabbit just got him last week. I have a big medal cage large enough for him. But see the problem is I have been using the grass you can buyin the pet store but it makes a awful mess. So I layed a sheet on the floor so it wouldnt be such a mess. The rabbit started pulling at the side of the sheet and ended up with some of in its cage. He was alying on it and was sleeping on it. Can I lay a old towel in his cage?. I have tried the cedar bedding but it falls through my cage. Or will news paper be better so I can lay the cedar bedding on top of the news paper.
Can you put a rabbit and two guinea pigs in a cage together? I have two guinea pigs and my sister has just got a rabbit (all female). Can I put them all in a large C&C cage together 2 by six both sides (in an L shape) People say they dont get along but they deffinately do! The guinea oigs snuggle up to Loopy (the Rabbit) Thanx charlie P.S. how hight dose the cage have to be so the rabbit wont climb out???? xoxoxo
Does my rabbit have to live in a cage ? I have only ever owned one rabbit in my life. he died nov 07 and im thinking now is the time for another one. I recently moved into a smaller apartment which means less space for a cage. before i had lots of room and had my rabbit in a large cage and i would let him out often, until i litter trained him. I would let him out for hours when i was home, when i wouldn't be home i would put him back. now since im in a smaller environment is it safe to allow my bunny to act like a cat? would he/she chew cords? rip things? need help ! thanks. ps. im not getting a cat. dont like them i also have no other animals around.
My Male rabbit ( cage problems)? I got a new rabbit which is a 6 month old Dwarf rabbit. I have 3 cages 2 large but one small. I'm getting a small female rabbit the can fit in the small cage, but i'm afraid a fox could break in and get the rabbit.. ( In Australia we have heaps of foxes) P.s merry christmas!! My male is in a fox- proof cage and its big enough for the rabbit to sleep eat, drink and move around, even when the small cage is in there ( i tested) is it safe to keep my female rabbit in a small cage in the males cage?
rabbit cages? any suggestions where to buy a large rabbit cage? what do you recommend size wise for a rabbit?

How do I make my rabbit's cage less ugly? I have a 4 or 5 lb Dutch rabbit. We bought him a large dog cage for his home with a second floor for jumping. (Yes we know he is spoiled) He loves his spacious condo and we are not going to downsize, but it's ugly to look at. (There is really nowhere in our place to move it out of sight either) Does anyone have any ideas to make Oscar's cage easier on the eyes? Wow I didn't expect to get so many answers so quickly. I love the name plate idea, the curtains, and the spray paint. Thank you all for your help!
Can I keep chickens and quail in the same area? I have a large chicken coop with chickens who roam around freely inside and out in their penned area. I also have quail who live in several large rabbit cages, and I want to put those cages into the coop before the rainy season. Is this ok? I have heared somewhere it is not wise to mix game birds and chickens Oh, they're coturnix!
Should I get a one level or a two level Ferret Nation cage for my two ferrets? I have two ferret kits, and I'm thinking about getting a Ferret Nation cage. I currently have a pretty large rabbit cage, but the entire top of the cage is a spring locked door, and the front door is spring locked. I'm worried that they will be able to escape when they get older. So, do I really need a new cage? If so, should I get the one level or the two level Ferret Nation cage? It seems like they just sleep the whole time in the cage, so what is the point of getting the two levels?
help finding a rabbit cage? Hi all do you know of a site that has very big rabbit cages that are big enough to run around and hop around . i checked out many sites and the cages are just to small. i have a floppy eared rabbit which is quite large and he is in a hutch now and he is making a mess peeing out the sides and its nasty. i need something with a deep floor so he can't spray all over when he goes potty. thank you all in advance.
Why did a stray husky take our rabbit out of its cage and kill it?!? Our neighbors knocked at our door to say they heard one of our rabbits crying and that a big dog had it. I have a big hutch just about built, this is the last night Baxter would have been in a conventional cage and he gets killed, so so sad! Our other rabbit is in a locked hutch already, I had them together under a tarp with a heat lamp. The large wire cage was on a plywood board, on top of a large metal bin with feed in it. I feel so bad, if only I had finished the hutch one day sooner! Why on earth would a stray dog come in my yard and kill our rabbit? We had just two. This second rabbit was from my daughter's science teacher... I've never seen the husky before, it has a collar but no tags. Animal control took it away...
Hi, okay I want this cage (I have the link) but I want levels for my rabbit!? Okay, so I am about to adopt a rabbit, and I was trying to find the perfect cage - large, spacious, comfortable for my rabbit, well-made, and safe...not to mention to ridiculously expensive! Well, I love this Prevue Hendryx cage, http://www.rabbitstop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=620&Category_Code=3PrevueHendryxHabitats&Product_Count=2 but I wanted the cage to have more then one level. Do you think there is any way I could build another level onto it? Thans in advance. By the way, since that cage has a wire floor, I am going to use mats, so she can't get hock sores.
How big should my rabbits' cage be? I have a 6 pound rabbit and I'm going to get a 4 pound rabbit. How big should their cage be? They will have about 4 hours of running freely around my house. The cage I currently have for my 6 pounded rabbit is 5 feet by 3 feet. Will this be large enough, or should I extend it to make room for the newcoming rabbit?
what size cage for a Flemish Giant Rabbit? Im getting a Flemish Giant rabbits, and Im going to make her a cage out of organize cubes so I can customize it to accomadate her space. So, What size should I make it to make it so she has a large enought area.
What is the max bar spacing for a rat cage? I was at petsmart today and there were 3 rabbit cages on clearance. These things had to be 3 feet long, 2 foot wide and 2 foot tall! They were on clearance for $26! The only problem is that the bar spacing is sort of large. I really wouldnt like to mod the cage at all by adding more mesh wire or whatever so i need to know what the max spacing is. I will have male rats so that should help them not get out.
How can I keep hay for my house rabbit tidy? I have had my house rabbit for about a month now & am thinking of getting rid of its large cage as he is now litter trained and gets the run of the house but does anyone have any suggestions how I can leave hay out for him with minimal mess?
Is it important to fix your rabbit in order to litter train it? I just moved my year old rabbit from a cage to a larger pen. She was somewhat litter trained, especially in her cage. Now in her pen she will not use her litter. Also when I let her have run time around the house she will not use her litter pan. She is not fixed, do you think that would help? We love her but she is a mess!!! Any suggestions?
How to prevent the large collection of rabbit feces on the underside of the animals hair.? A large ball of dried feces was found on the underside of my friends rabbit. Trying to remove it with gloves it appeared as if it was glued to the rabbits hair it was stuck so firmly. Eventually we removed the large clump (1/2 size of a baseball). The rabbit lives in a cage. Are there any prevention methods. I was thinking using a hair trimmer to get rid of the hair that the feces collect to.
How do i litter box train my rabbit? we used to have a bunny who was really good at using the litter box. we still have the other one (male;nuetured) and recently bought a female bunny which just got weaned. the male was okay at first, now he is just lazy and poops in his cage or misses the box when he urinates. the box is the right size. any tips on litter box training? we will eventually combine the 2 bunnies into one large cage. already though the female uses her litter box to urinate most of the time.
pet rabbit not eating? I have a 2 year old pet rabbit [kept in large cage in house] She has not been eating her regular diet of hay, grain, carrots etc. for a couple of days now. We took her to the Vet's yesterday and they said she had a bladder infection and gave her medicine. She still won't eat . What can I feed her ? Also, should a rabbit get cookies, crackers, etc. for treats ?
How do I take care of a newborn rabbit that stays outdoors? I have 3 rabbits that live inside the same cage. The cage is a large with 2 rooms. My rabbit had 5 babies this morning and 4 died. So what do I need to keep the other rabbit alive? It lives outdoors with 3 grown female rabbits. I will surely appreciate any answers. I do not have any kind of kitten milk. Thanks for your answers.
Starter cage size for a parakeet? I've read a lot of places that tell you a lot of minimum sizes. The strangest I've heard was 11x11 which I really would not do. But starting off, and keeping it there temporarily, would a 16x16 by enough room for a parakeet to open its wings and turn? I plan on spending a lot of time with it out of the cage, but I like to start off with something affordable and minimal while I save for a larger cage. I did this for my rabbit and rats and now they have gigantic cages. :]
Rabbit babies? help please!? Im pretty sure my rabbit is pregnant. She is about a 3 year old lionhead rabbit and has mated with about 6-7 year old male dwarf rabbit. Is the male to old to mate? or is there a good chance she is pregnant? last time she had a baby it dies because she didnt feed it, it also might have had someting to do with the weather because it was very cold and in winter. Is there anything i can do to make sure that this litter doesnt die and that everything goes ok? ho do i no for sure that she is pregnant? and she also shares a large cage with another female rabbit. should i move this rabbit into a spare cage?
What is a rabbit meat pen? I have a Californian rabbit and I was looking to invest in a smaller bunny to set in her large cage with her. (She gets bored.) When I called around, the only rabbits the local breeder had was "meat pen rabbits." She said she was about to put the runt of the litter down, but I could buy it to nurse myself if I wanted. I don't get it. Are these raised for meat, as livestock? I like big bunnies. :P I got my Californian from a breeder on purpose. <3
indoor rabbit cage ideas desperately needed!? We have ourselves a bunny rabbit, one we took in as a tempory measure as the shelter was full, but as he came to us as a baby and lives indoor in a cage we kind of got used to him and decided to make him a permanent addition. Anyway he needs a bigger cage and we have decided against putting him outside so are going to build a custom built cage for himwith the intention of it being able to provide lots of different things for him to do. He is so super friendly will even roll over for a fuss!!! He cant come out of the cage too frequent as we have a rather large dog that would eat him for breakfast given the oppertunity so this new cage we intend to have a soil area, maybe a paved area good for his claws to pass over as well as growing trays of grass and things but what else could we include and does anyone else have a custom built 21st century rabbit cage with pictures for ideas? I know he is just a rabbit but he thinks he is a dog and doesnt apprechiate being caged up too well im sure. love to hear your ideas and perhaps what you have done with your own custom built cages?
How do you prevent a domestic rabbit burrowing? my rabbit has an outdoor cage with a large area of grass to eat and run around in however she has been burrowing rather deep holes and im scared that she will escape. We have tried puting a wire mesh under the cage but apparently this hurts their feet so i dont put it on that often. Any prevention other than scolding her?
looking for a rabbit/guinea pig cage.? I'm looking for a specific kind of cage commonly used for rabbits and guinea pigs, I just can't remember the name of it, so i can't search to buy it. I'm adopting 2 guinea pigs later this week, and while they come with a cage, I'd like to house them in one of these. They come in cubes, a white grid-type thing. You can put them together to make them as large as you want. If anyone knows what these are called, or where you can buy them at, I'd be appreciative. :3 Alissha- that is the EXACT website I was looking for! A friend of mine emailed it to me months ago, but I lost the link. Thank you SO much!
C&C cage needing better support for rabbit and guineas? Okay, I have a double layer Guiena pig cage, that is shared with my rabbit. I used C&C cage ideas, and used targets storage cubes. It is 5 across, and 2 on the side. it's relativly large, and eventually I will go bigger. Until that time can come, I need some advice on better support for this cage. The corner clip and ties are used for support. They work fine, however over time things are starting to become bowed or loose. I have wooden supports going through the top of the first layer, to support the rabbits hopping around. There is a ramp as well than comes up and down, so that the rabbit and guinea's can have their own 'domains'. They get seperated during night, feeding, and when i'm not here. Some days too, both animals are moody LOL. I just need some advice from C&C builders, on good ways for support ing the cage better. Thanks! the rabbit will not be removed- i am fully aware of issue's between rabbits and guinea's, however my rabbits disposition isn't a concern. My rabbit spends 3-5 hours with the guinea pigs per day, most of that time is spent on open floor time. I've had them like this for 5 months, and yet to have an issue.
Any suggestions for attractive rabbit housing? Bunny condos are, in my opinion, really ugly. Is there a way to disguise a rabbit home so it blends in with normal furniture? Would it be possible to renovate a large, ornate bird cage to house a rabbit?
Cheapest rabbit cages? I have 16 rabbits and they all have cages that work. They are homemade and aren't really the size I would like them. Because I have 16 I feel bad I cannot spend 100% of my free time with all of them, and although is not equal to spending time I would at least like them to have larger cages to move about on their own. My original cages were perfect, easy to clean and the optimum size. But then there were more and I had to get rid of the ones for space for the others. They are now being moved to a different location and I need new cages and I only have 300 dollars. I'm considering cages from KWCages and a couple other places. Any ideas? What do you think of maing wire mesh cages? Any advise would be helpful, please no irrelevant or stupid comments. Thank you, =)
Would This Work as a Rabbit Cage? And What Breed? I had a ferret who died a few weeks ago. I still have all of his stuff. Eventually down the road I want to get a rabbit and I was wondering if his old cage would work as a rabbit cage. It's 32"x20"x21" and looks like this one: http://a1272.g.akamai.net/7/1272/1121/20070529164951/www.drsfostersmith.com/images/Categoryimages/larger/lg_31688_41279P_008_ferret.jpg If it would work, what breed would be best?
