Rabbit Cage Supplies Knowledge Base
Rabbit Cage Questions for people who truly know about rabbits and rabbit supplies.? I have a very large rabbit, she is mostly likely a mix, and has pretty much outgrown her cage (approximately 40 inches by 18 inches). I am looking for an extra large cage, but the only ones with enough substantial space seem to solely be made and ship in europe. I am looking for something at least 42 inches by 24 inches or so, and having relatively little luck. If anyone has any knowledge of any that might help my "little" rabbit find a nicer home, please send in an answer! Any (serious) thoughts on this are greatly appreciated! :+)

I'm only 14 and I always get food supplies and cage from Pet Lovers' Center for my dear Syrian hamster. (: THANK YOU !!! :D
is there an easy way to build a rabbit cage that will house 2 rabbits? rabbit cages are way too expensive nowadays and i am looking for a cage less than 30 dollars that will accomidate 2 medium sized rabbits. do you know a palce where i can order inexpensive rabbit cages from? or do you know an inexpensive way to build one? i hear that building supplies cost almost as much as a cage and i don't have very good building experience either. but it's coming down to either this or letting my rabbits go. they have well outgrown the hamster cage that i have kept them in.
What is the LEAST amount of money to spend on a rabbit plus supplies... URGENT? Please make a list with the LEAST amount of money you could spend on it next to each item, for example: Rabbit: $$$ Cage: $$$ Food: $$$ and anything else for a rabbit on that list. Thank you! sorry, I may not have been clear. I want to know everything that I will need to keep an indoor rabbit and the lowest price for each also, I have heard that you should get rabbit shampoo and nail trimmers, is this necessary
What kind of bedding should I use in my rabbit's cage? I'm getting a new bunny rabbit this week (yay!) and we're going out to get a cage and some supplies tonight. I was just wondering what kind of bedding I should use in my rabbit's cage? Are there certain kinds that are toxic? Which do you rabbit owners find absorb the best and which ones control odour best? Thanks!
Will a rabbit cage be appropriate for a ferret? I have always wanted a ferret, but they are so expensive. I recently ran into an opportunity to buy a ferret and it's supplies for 50 dollars and I was given a rabbit cage. I know the cage is big enough, but it doesn't have very much vertical height. Assuming I give the ferret enough time outside it's cage (I also have an enclosed outdoor "pasture" originally intended for a rabbit) would a rabbit cage be appropriate to keep a ferret for a year or so?
Where can I sell my rabbit cage?!? Im trying to sell a 250$ rabbit cage with supplies I only used it for a few months but I'm selling everything for 100$ It comes with food hay bedding a hay holder bowl water bottle bunny litter a hang in corner litter box chew toys paper shreddings for nesting and there is even an unused name tag on the cage. The reason I rehomed my bunny is because he started chewing up my carpet so I found him a home with a family who was more expirienced had another bunny for a companion and let's me check up on him they already had everything. I have tried Craigslist but I have had no offers where else can I try my luck?
What all supplies do I need & what cage do you reccomend for a rabbit? Hello! I have been doing lots of research on rabbits, (I'm halfway through my second book, and I've done lots online,) & i have decided that rabbit is the choice for me! I need a list of supplies I will need. I have the basic list (cage, water bottle/food bowl/toys/feed/etc etc) Also what cage do you recommend for a medium sized bunny? He/She will probably get about 30 minutes outside his/her cage almost every night. So I want a big enough cage, that's not SUPER expensive. Any other info/tips will be appreciated! Thanks,<3

What breed of rabbit is your favorite? I'm getting a rabbit in a year and I want to know what breed I should get. I DON'T WANT A DWARF!!! I had one and I didn't like how small and fragile he was so please don't suggest it you won't be helping me out. I already have a HUGE rabbit cage supplies etc and everything I just want to know a HUGE rabbit breed to go with it too.:) I need somethin that will be good around a rabbit friendly cat I know it's weird but she was raised around my dwarf and a dog friendly rabbit she doesn't really show any interest in them. Overall just want that can be big enough to be a run around the house pet.
What is the LEAST amount of money you can spend on a rabbit and supplies... hurry, its urgent!!!? Please make a list with the LEAST amount of money you could spend on it next to each item, for example: Rabbit: $$$ Cage: $$$ I'll go about 20 dollars over the price, but still give me the least. Food: $$$ and anything else for a rabbit on that list. Thank you! also, I have heard that you should get rabbit shampoo and nail trimmers, is this necessary? When I said I would go 20$ over the price, that dident mean I was hoping to spend 20 dollars on everything... I know thats not going to happen. What I meant was, Once you list the prices, I will total your prices and add 20, so I will have extra for anything else.

Which rabbit cage would be the best for two rabbits? I currently own two rabbits who live out on the balcony. One male and one female which I use for show breeding purposes so they have to be seperated. They are in a cage at the moment but I want to get a bigger one so they have a lot more of a run. I would need to someone seperate the two bunnies so they dont overbreed and a cage that is fairly easy to clean and keep clean. My balcony is 100cm in width, 2m in length and 5m high. I am so far chosing out of these ones. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Chicken-Coop-Hen-House-Pen-Rabbit-Ferret-Cat-Cage-BNE-/160650123784?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DDLSL%252BPSSI%252BSI%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BUA%252BUCK%26otn%3D20%26pmod%3D160648195661%252B160648195661%26po%3D%26ps%3D63 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Pet-Enclosure-Chicken-Coop-Cat-run-ferret-/220823456849?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item336a1a8c51 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Foldable-Metal-Pet-Dog-Cat-Cage-Strong-Kennel-8-Panels-/170673887154?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item27bcf4d7b2 I would also need something that would protect them against cats and other animals. I was thinking the last one but dont know what I could use as a roof.
Proper Rabbit Cage Set Up? Okay my cage is super small, so I getting a new one. The one one Im looking for is 40'' L 22'' D. Which in my opinion is a really good size for my rabbit. Shes a lion head, probably about 3-5 pounds. I'm planning on getting all new stuff. My question is what do rabbits need for a proper cage, do they need levels? I was planning on buying one. Do they need a bed? My rabbit gets a constant supply of food, do they need that or just feed them at certain times. I know they need salt. Whats the best bedding pine or cedar. I always use pine, I don't care for cedar because of my horses but I will use what ever is best for her. Add any other things you want. Thanks
Which rabbit cage would be the best? I'm getting a Mini Lop bunny in a few weeks and I want all the supplies to be at home and ready. And I've got most of the supplies ready but i'm missing one of the most important things-a cage. I've been looking for a while, but being a first time rabbit owner, i'm not sure which would be the best. I want to get one that would be big enough so I don't have to get a new one once the rabbit grows, although the rabbit doesn't grow that big. I would probably want one from Petco or Petsmart, and my budget is about up to $120. Thanks!!!!! and please include links

Would this cage be ok for TWO guinea pigs while we're on holiday? we're going on holiday for just over a week and a half. My friend says she will look aftre them and she has owned many guinea pigs and a few rabbits and is very experienced in caring for them They usually live in a hutch outdoors but spend alot of time indoors in a play pen. They have a two tiered large hutch outdoors. Will this cage be ok for them to live in, indoors at my friends house for a week and a 1/2 while we're away?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hagen-Zoozone-Blue-Indoor-Guinea-Pig-Rabbit-Cage_W0QQitemZ250540591301QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals?hash=item3a556208c5 Thanks
what type of pet rat cage should i get? i like the aurora 450 ( http://cgi.ebay.ie/NEW-Aurora-450-Chinchilla-Rat-Rabbit-Cage-shelves-/300441904762?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals#ht_655wt_1139 ) but its way too expensive. does anyone know of a deep based and easy to clean rat cage with more than enough space for two female rats? I need help choosing rabbit supplies....? So i have a new bunny and while I have the most basic supplies, I am trying to figure out what would be the best to purchase him in terms of a leash, a brush, a litter box, types of litter (I have just been using newspaper....), and toys. Also, how can I get him to be more receptive to me? I have had him for a few weeks and while he has gotten used to my room and moves around it freely, he still pretty much avoids me. I don't really go up to him except to put him in his cage, I pretty much ignore him and sometimes he sniffs my feet but that's about it. He came up to me once and bit my leg and then ran away??? Well I do approach him, but I have read that you should let him come to you. I sit on my floor and don't go after him, waiting to see if he will come up to me....and he rarely does. At first I would catch him and hold him but it seemed to petrify him...
Is this cage ok for a hamster ? I know this is an indoor rabbit hutch but if I were to put hamster things etc.. will this be a suitable home for 2 hamsters ? http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/pet-supplies/pet-cages/rabbit-and-guinea-pig-hutches/indoor-rabbit-homes/zoozone-critter-home-dark-blue-large.html
Will this cage be ok for TWO guinea pigs ?( please read whole question)? Our piggies live in a large two tiered hutch outside. We like to bring them in if it rains, is too cold/hot ( basically when the weather is not suitable) so we invetsed in this : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hagen-Zoozone-Blue-Indoor-Guinea-Pig-Rabbit-Cage_W0QQitemZ250540591301QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals?hash=item3a556208c5 Will it be ok, they will come out at LEAST an hour eveyday and the tray is deep enough so we can take the lid of to let them get plenty of air and they will be monitered all the time the lid would have to stay on though if they were staying in over night, but would be taken off again in the morning and the piggies removed for floor time. We might also want to use it when we go on holiday. Will it be ok??? p.s we cannot afoard to give them a mansion and they already have a nice warm, cosy hutch outside. PLease do not be harsh with your answers Thanks xx
Is this cage ok for two guinea pigs? they won't be in it ALL THE TIME , they have a hutch outside, but just when the weather is not suitale, the hutch is being cleaned, it's cold or we just want them inside ect we will put them in. They could be in it for a while, over night, or possibly even a few days if the weather is not suitable. And whilst they are in it we will take them out for cuddles and runs around for about 5 or 10 mins every hour or so. Will this be ok for two?? And any ways of making it more iteresting for them would be great http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hagen-Zoozone-Blue-Indoor-Guinea-Pig-Rabbit-Cage_W0QQitemZ250540591301QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals?hash=item3a556208c5

Free Rabbit With Supplies? I have a rabbit that was born on march 5, 2007. He is black with a white belly and brown on the back of his neck. He is not neutered. Before I got him, I did alot of research, but when I got him, I found out that a rabbit is just not the right pet for me. I want to give him away to a good home, in mansfield, arlington, or grand prairie, texas. Preferably to someone with rabbit experience. I will give you his food, hay, toys, water bottle, nail clippers, etc. and of course his cage (here is a picture of his cage. I think he has the "blue jumbo" one. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753643 And his smaller cage we got when he was smaller, which we use when we have to put him in a different room, or when we travel. i really really really want to get a rabbit, but how do i convince my dad? i'm trying really hard to get a holland lop rabbit but my dad keeps on saying no because my parents r divorced so he doesn't want 2 take care of it when i'm gone. but i can't take it over 2 my mom's house because the cat over there might kill it..... i've been doing chores for the past 2 weeks, i'm a 4.0 student and i've saved up my money 2 buy the rabbit and the supplies. what should i do?! and where is another place i can put the rabbit cage (if i got one)? my dad won't let me put it in my room and we can't put it in the kitchen, living room, family room, or den! where could i put it? (i would NEVER put it outside) please help!!
25”Lx16”Wx19”H" a good size for my rabbit? I am thinking about adopting a rabbit. First i have to get my supplies is a cage 25”Lx16”Wx19”H" good for a holland lop, Netherland dwarf or possibly a mini lop.... The rabbit would only be in the cage to sleep the rest of the time he could run around my house. But any way i was wondering i read online that that was ok but it sounded kinda small 30" x 18" x 16" ?? Found another one online.
will this cage be any good for my rats? http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/pet-supplies/pet-cages/chinchilla-and-rat-cages/rabbit-guinea-pig-and-mammal-cage-100.html im thinking about buying my rats a single level cage as kenai is losing the use of his back legs and is finding it more difficult to get around his cage which has multiple levels. the only problem is i dont really want to spend that much on the cage, and i need to know if there is another site that has that cage or a similar one for a cheaper price. or there are these http://www.petcentreonline.co.uk/ecommerce/scripts/prodView~idproduct~1074.htm http://www.petcentreonline.co.uk/ecommerce/scripts/prodView~idproduct~901.htm they dont look big but they are upto 995cm in length, so that should be a decent size for 2 eldery rats, one of which doesnt get around as much as he used to and i can still take the other one out i know they are for rabbits, but its the best i could find and the cheapest. the rat one i found was this http://www.petcentreonline.co.uk/ecommerce/Scripts/prodView~idproduct~303.htm but it still looks like it has a plastic bottom like the other cages i listed. is 2.1cm to big a bar spacing for rats
Will this cage work for a Dwarf Hotot rabbit? I'm thinking about getting either (or possibly both) a Dwarf Hotot or a Lilac rabbit. Will this cage work for a Dwarf Hotot? Here's the link to it from Tractor Supply. http://www.tractorsupply.com/pet-care/small-animals/small-animal-cages-habitats/ware-manufacturing-rabbit-kit-2181349 The guy at the store measured it's height and said that it's 16 inches high, but how long and wide is it? BTW - I already have 2 rabbits, but we have a special table with several benches under it that the rabbits are on, so we want this cage because we think that it will fit. Thanks!

Is there a special item I need to buy to attach my rabbit's water bottle to the cage? I am a first time rabbit owner. I bought one of those rabbit starter kits at my local farm supply. It came with a cage, food, Timothy hay, water bottle and dish, etc. There is a white wire in the kit but is there something better I can use to attach the bottle to the cage? Also, I want to make a bed for my rabbit. I've read that the best thing to use is an untreated wooden box and some cedar or pine shavings. Will my rabbit use the bathroom in the shavings or do they refuse to use it where they sleep like most animals?
What supplies do I need for a Holland Lop or Netherland Dwarf rabbit? (Baby)? In two weeks I'm going to be getting either a holland lop or a netherland dwarf (the breeder has both varieties that will be weaned and ready to go then, so I have to decide when I get there). I would like to know what all supplies I need for one, I know cage, food, hay, water bottle and toys, but is there anything else? What sized cage? What kind of bedding? What about for the litter box, what kind of litter? Also, names? If I go with a Netherland dwarf, it will be broken tan colored (tan with white patches) and if I go with a Holland lop it will be white with black spots. I will get a male rabbit.
Please help me get some supplies? I am trying to build a new rabbit cage and need a wire cube shelving system, where can you buy these and what is the cheapest price? Also, how much does plywood and vinyl tile stuff cost? Thank You!

One that I can buy in the uk
How do I convince my parents to let me have a rabbit? This is my story. Ok, so I really really really want a rabbit. I've done all my research you could possibly do on a rabbit. I know how much it costs how much care it needs, anything and everything it needs. Right now, I have 2 dogs(1 old and 1 young) and hamster(almost a year.) I've had 4 hamsters( lived long and happy, I'm not a killer), 5 hermit crabs(lived long too), 4 beta fish( gave away), and 1 dog( died from unknown sickness when we got her,) You may think I get everything I want and I don't blame you. But every animal I've had I loved and cared for. I'm 11 yrs old. My parents don't want one because they say they smell and poop a lot and we have no place to put it. I told them I will clean the rabbit and the cage once a week or more if they'd like. And I can put the cage in my room. They said that they have to live out side in a hutch. Is that true? But I told them that them smelling is a sacrifice I'll have to take. They also said they are cute when they are bunnies but when they age they will be ugly. I said I don't care. I take care of all the animals in my house now and have hardly any help. Only with my young dog because she is a poodle and I need help brushing her after her bath. And what really kills me is my dad will be like: Katie, can you make me a sandwich? (he's joking) I'll say will you give me a rabbit and he'll say yes but I know he's lying. Is there something I can say to him to make him like feel bad about teasing me? So I know all the pros and all the cons but I still want one!! I need something to say or do to make them get me one. I have the money to buy a rabbit plus supplies. I've told them that and they just say ok. Please o please can someone help me!! I'm going insane!! I also told them I want to adopt a rabbit. Help one in a shelter. I'm completely prepared for having a rabbit. Will you help me. Also I've tryed making a contract will a bunch of things on it that i will do, that didn't work. I even said you can take it back or give me a fine. I tryed making an excel spreadsheet showing the cost. That didn't work either. Plz help me!! All ideas will be taken into consider. I will choose a best answer.
Is it normal for an 8 week old rabbit to drink a lot of water? My female mini rex appears to drink an excessive amount of water. She would play and eat, and then visit the water bottle very frequently, at least a few times a minute (when not sleeping or resting). Could she be needing something that is missing in her diet etc? Could it be a sign of a health problem? Or is it normal? She is fed pelleted food that was recommended as the best for her. She gets only a small amount of dried treats a day and no fresh veggies (websites on rabbits are against feeding juvenile rabbits fresh veggies). She has a constant supply of timothy hay. She also has a mineral block. To keep her busy and entertained, she has toys in her cage and she gets to play outside the cage a few times a day. So, is her drinking habit normal for such a young rabbit? Or do I need to worry?

Rabbit questions? Please Read!? I'm under going some deep thinking right now dealing with my male rabbit. See if you can help please. I had to put my rabbit outside because my dad didn't like the idea of Abu (rabbit) chewing on our wires and wood panes. I would let him out more than 3 times a day to rome my room (he's not allowed to go downstairs or in the hallway upstairs). The sad part is that he's in a cage all day outside now. I FEEL really bad for him. I want to start to buy some rabbit supplies so that he can play around and get to feeling happy agian. Here are a few things I need help with 1. Abu is a male and not fixed. He sprays the corners of my room (this caused my dad to think that he belongs outside.) 2. this is the cage he lives in. At the time he was tiny and we thought he wasn't going to get any bigger because the place we bought him from said he was a dwarf rabbit. Now he's out growing and doesn't have enough room to run in. just lay. http://www.rabbitmart.com/shop/index.php?page=shop-flypage-17279 3. I want to buy im so toys so he can play with. But I want to order them off line do you know any good websites that offer discounts 4. I want to get him a play pen something big enough to attact to the cage so I can let him run around and not worry about. 5. is a leash a bad thing to put on a rabbit. 6. is there a catorloy for rabbits Once again thanks for reading. sorry i'm in a hurry

Tips for a first-time rabbit owner? I am adopting an 8 month old female mini rex next week and have done plenty of research on caring for her, but I was wondering if anyone has any good advice or things to look out for that I might not have read about. I'm not breeding or showing her, just keeping her as a pet. I'm planning on getting the following supplies to start out: a cage (approx. 24 by 24), a small kitty litter box and litter, a food dish, food pellets and fresh veggies, a water bottle, some cat toys from the previous owner, wooden blocks for chewing, a nail clipper, and a shoebox for her to sleep in. Am I missing anything important? Thanks!
Should I get a pet rabbit or a pet bird? Between diamond doves and a holland lop. I am committed to spending time with either pet and I will be able to clean either cage whenever it needs to be cleaned. I do have the money to get all the supplies it needs and I also have a vet for them. I simply can't decide on which one to get. I'm not sure which one is lower maintenance, but I think the lower maintenance one better would do better with my family. I also have two cats and I'm not sure which would do the best with cats. Help would be greatly appreciated!
First time rabbit owner...? I'm thinking about getting a rabbit, but I want to know alittle more about the animal. I have alot of questions so here it goes- How do you take care of it? Do their cages need to be cleaned often? How much are they? Can they be trained? Are they generally kind animals? And also how much will the cost come to? (all of the supplies including cage, bedding, food) Thanks! It would be an indoor rabbit, and also how big should the cage be?
Rabbit up for Adoption ? I have a 6 month old rabbit who needs a good home (preferably with an experienced rabbit owner). It turns out almost my whole family is allergic to him. He is black with a little bit of white and brown. He is very playful. He will go with all of his supplies, including his cage. Anyone near grand prairie, arlington, or mansfield, texas please answer. Yes, I have put an ad for him on petfinder.com, but I havent gotten any replies, and if I dont find him a good home soon, he will have to go to a shelter.
How do you make a rabbit nest? I want to make a nest for my pregnant rabbit, but how would I go about doing this? My main concerns are: What type of flooring should the nest have? Should it be a mesh or wire-like floor? Or should it just be wood? Does one need to supply bedding in it (I've heard some people say no bedding is required because the mother rabbit will supply it herself....is that true)? If so, what type(s)? And lastly, how often do you need to change the bedding in the nest? Usually w/ their normal cage, you need to clean it everyday, is it the same w/ the nest?
Ear Mites? How easily can ear mites spread? I have this huge room in my basement and one side of it is lined with windows. It is nicknamed my pet room, because this is where my pets stay. One side has my two big rabbit cages, I have two rabbits. I have four cats and a dog, too. They never bother the rabbits, they acually like them. There is a lot of beds and places to sleep. There is a crate, where the dog goes at night. There are seven bowls lined up against the wall, four cat food bowls, two water bowls, one treat bowl. I have a cage with my mouse in it on a stand. None of the cats ever bother it. Anyway, it has mites and I was wondering if they could have spread. I got a new cage and supplies and moved her to a new room. I put baby oil in her ears twice a day. There are a lot of shelves to one side of the room, where I keep food, medical supplies, etc. I sweep the room once a week and clean it. Do you think they have alread spread? The cats and dog stay out everyday and go in there to sleep. They also go in there if they are sick. The rabbits go out in there pen, too, everyday. If the other pets never have anything to do with the mouse, can they get ear mites real easily? They have a lot of toys down there, and pet furniture (cat towers, etc.) I don't know how they spread so just wondering. They are all spoiled, so I am really worrying. Thanks! Sorry, I thought I stated it. It was the mouse.
can my rabbit get dehydrated & die? i live near the beach so it gets very hot & humid, i usually try and move the cage so it is in the shade but it gets so hot my rabbit pants & breathes funny, i supply alot of water for him. i am scared he will get to hot & die..is this possible?
I'm getting a rabbit today..help!? well, I'm getting a rabbit today, I've been studying about them but i still need help can people tell me supplies breeds cages.. anything please and thank you! =)
Does anyone want a rabbit ? I have a 6 month old, black and white (with a little brown) rabbit. He isnt neutered. It turns out that my family is allergic to him, and we have to find him a good home. He goes with all his supplies, including his cages. Yes, he does have two cages, one smaller one we got when he was smaller, and now a bigger one. I would prefer someone with rabbit exerience to get him. If you live in grand prairie, arlington, or mansfield, texas or anywhere close to that, please answer. I have put an ad on petfinder.com, but I havent gotten any responses, and if I dont find a home for him soon, I will have to put him in a shelter. There is also an adoption fee of $50, but that includes all of his supplies.
What kind of pet should I get? I've been looking for a new pet recently. I can't afford another dog or cat, and as much as I'd like it, I can't get a snake. Or a rat. I'd like a pet that isn't terribly expensive (including cages and supplies) and doesn't take up a lot of room. Maybe something with low-maintanence. I've considered a frog or a turantula, but I'm still looking for more. I don't really want a rodent (besides maybe a rabbit) for what it's worth. I didn't say I wanted a NO maintanence pet, so don't ride me about that. I know that all pets take time and work, and I'm willing to do that, but I'm looking for something that isn't high maintanence, like a dog or a cat would be.
Rabbit Homes (Plz Help Me)? Would a rabbit be fine in a dog cage picked up as a rabbit hutch? Or should I use a cage from Petco or Tractor Supply, build my own or can I use a dog cage?
How to convince my parents to let me have a rabbit? Ok so I'm 13, Last time I had a pet of my own was when I was 8-9 I had a budgie, My mum accidently gased it with carfumes =( I think I was too young for the responsibilty and my mum mostly looked after it. I'm 13 year now, And found I have nothing to do and I'm sort of craving responsibilty i'm so bored. I think a rabbit would be a perfect solution to get me outside more and less time on the computer. There was gorgeous one at my local petshop that actually came right up to the cage bars to greet me, It was so cute *sigh* lol. I think rabbits make great companions and I have all the money to buy the basics ( cage, vaccinations, toys and the rabbit of course) and money to consistently buy its food and water and things. My littles cousins rabbits actually died a couple of weeks ago, So that did not help the situation at all. My mum and dad thinks all rabbits do is sleep and poop all day and die really fast, I have everything worked out about the rabbit and wheres it hutch will go and where i'll get my supplies. Can someone help me convince her? I'm looking after a stuffed rabbit right now to prove to them i'm responsible. My mum thinks she'll be the one looking after it Help?!!
This one or this one? For my guinea pig, I've split the choice down to two cages. Both are quite alot bigger than her current cage, but I only have £26, and £71 is a lot more! xD http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nero-3-Guinea-pig-cage-or-small-rabbit-hutch-extras_W0QQitemZ220338565873QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals?hash=item220338565873&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A3|65%3A7|39%3A1|240%3A1318 http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/rodents/cages/rabbit_cage/95868 Nero or Casita? Ok, casita it is, I'll move all her toys and huts into it, so she doesn't get bored. she's not really much of a climber so I'll doubt she'll jump on that hut anyway lol xD I'll get a loan from my mum... lol
Rabbit help!? I have a Holland Lop rabbit! She is two years old and has never gone to the vet. She doesn't need to because we are very good with pets! What I don't understand is that rabbits ahve very soft poop sometimes, I know that, some are hard balls, and others are soft poop which they eat because it supplies them with lots of minerals. But what i don't get is that she does the soft poop kind very often and she steps on it and it gets caught in her wire bottom cage which is very hard to clean out! Every time I clean her, she poops this way ( she does a lot of hard poop too) and her cage gets really stinky and my parents start complaining that she stinks! How do I lessen this too much soft poop problem? Can't afford to take her to the vet at ALL! HELP!!!!!!!!!
Can the pet store be held accountable? I recently bought what i thought was an old, fat, depressed MALE chinchilla, turns out its a young pregnant FEMALE chinchilla. this is the second time i have bought an animal from this pet store and it has been pregnant and not male. last time it was a rabbit and i was told 'it couldnt have happend, not possible'. well it wasnt my husband so it MUST have occurred there. i bought the chinchilla to be a companion to my three year old sons male chinchilla. i need to remove him from the cage soon or he will impergnante the female again right after birth. i cannot get him neutered as no clinics in lethbridge will do it. can the pet store be held accountable in any way? possibly supplying me with a cage for the male, or supplies for the baby? i do not want to return her as my son is very attatched already. i plan to keep the baby, thats not the issue. i have emailed the company twice with no reply.
My Rabbit Died, Is It My Fault? Today i had my rabbit put to sleep :( I feel absolutly awful because she was a little over 7 years old and i know rabbits live 10+ years. I really hope it wasn't my fault she randomly started keeping her chin up to breath easier she also stopped eating, the cause was some heart complications causing breathing to be difficult. Because it was so difficult she chose breathing over eating since you cant breathe and eat at the same time. I noticed her struggle and brought her to the vet immediately and they said there's nothing you can do since heart surgery doesn't work on rabbits, I wanted to end her suffering. Anyway my rabbit was always able to run out of her cage anytime 24/7 in my room and i have quite a large room. Her diet consisted of 2 hand fulls of the standard pellet food one in the morning and one at night and also with 24/7 supply of timothy hay,and of coarse every now and then lettuce or carrots. I thought the diet was fine Also her cage was filled with shredded newspapers i hope that's not bad then again she was never locked up in it. Sadly i never took her to the vet till today she never had checks ups... i regret that part so much. She was the best rabbit, no other rabbit will be as social as this one and potty trained. im not sure if i should get another rabbit ill have the new rabbit until my late 20's and ill be devastatedd if the new rabbit is crapping and peeing on my floor and runs away if i try to pet her :(
My Rabbit Needs a Friend!? I am 14 years old. My rabbit is female, unspayed, and around 2 years old. I have given her toys, and she has a constant supply of water, food pelllets , and greens, a large cage, a large hutch outside with food water toys and a sleeping quarters, and plenty of love from me.But seems very lonely. About 2 or 3 years ago i had a male rabbit named Eddie he was lonely so i thought I would get him a guinea pig friend. Well I put them in a cage together and they were ok, but they had a fight so i seperated them for a while and they seemed better. One morning I looked in the cage and Eddie was staring at the ceiling. I took note of this. One night i woke up and he was having a seizure. I took him from his cage, calmed his seizure and held him until he died. OK enought with the backround info. I dont think I want a guinea pig after that, and i dont have the money to neuter or spay an animal and i would like to know how 2 female rabbit swould get along. I would most likely get a young female rabbit and a new cage so i can socialize them, and keep them seperate as long as they need. How well 2 females get along? My rabbit is rarely aggressive towards anyone/thing, and what is the best way to introduce them if i decide to go through with my plan. Thanks. Ps. My rabbit is a netherland dwarf.
My new rabbit and guinea pigs weight! Help!? I finally picked a name for my new mini Rex! I named it Hala-Kahiki which means Pineapple in hawiian language. My old mini rex was over weight(she died last year ; ( and so is my satin guinea pig shadow. I really want to ensure a good long life for both of them and want to know how Shadow can lose weight and I can prevent Hala Kahiki from being over weight. Hiki (for short)lol) gets about a cut of mana pro rabbit pellets a day and he almost always has an unlimited supply of hay and he gets about two big carrots every day to every other day. Right now the cage he's in will be too small when he gets older but it's perfect for a baby and I should be gettinf s bigger one soon and I get him out to hop around at least once a day. and shadow gets treats every now and agin gets a cup of food a day and has an unlimited supply of hay. but when I get him out he doesn't run or anything much and his cage is a lso a little too small! If I get him a bigger cage will it help him too lose weight!Help! I just basically want to know how I can prevent Hiki from gaining weight and I need shadow to lose weight because they're my life and I wouldn't want anything to happen to either of them!

Info about pet rabbits? (easy questions for rabbit owners)? Ok, so I went to a local feed&supply store to see if they had ducklings yet. ( I'm getting two ducklings soon) And as soon as I got in there was a sweet black rabbit on the counter. The feed store had rescued him from bad owners. He comes with his cage and altogether it's only $15! Do you think I should get him? ~ I've owned a rabbit before( I know how to take care of them ). Also, if I get him, could house him with my two ducks? Any important info I should know? ( I have'nt owned rabbits in 4 years). Thanks! many Blessings! :)
Rabbit's stomach makes gurgling sounds!? Hey, my Rabbit, Dexter, is around 5 years old or so. Lately, since around 4 days ago, his stomach has been making gurgling sounds, which can be heard from across the room. It seems like they are most noticeable at night. We leave the cage door open every day so he can run around and get his exercise in the games room, we leave food + veggies and hay in his dish, and rack, also have water supply which is full, but yet his stomach still makes gurgling sounds. He doesn't eat his veggies as much as he used to, and he doesn't have night droppings anymore, which are the moist poo stuck together. He doesn't go outside of his cage anymore either, but sometimes does. Could he be sick, or perhaps something worse? I don't think he can be dying because this just started happening in one day all of a sudden, and not over the course of time. Someone please help!
Animal Cruelty/BBB/Pet Store regulations. Please? My boyfriend works at a pet store, Pets Barn, they claim they are discount pet supplies but they cost just as much as Petco or Petsmart or any of the other big petstore chains. Anyways, their back wall small animals, birds & reptiles, basically, there is a big problem in my eyes & any other animal lovers that go in and see it. I don't know the dimensions of the cages but the rabbits, there is always atleast 6 of them & all the way up to 10 of them! The cage is WAY smaller then; http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6067+10431+17834&pcatid=17834 I never said much becuase they were sold quickly but then more were bought as soon as a few were sold. Along with the over-crowded rabbit cage (Which only has a food bowl and some hay....no chew toys, home, tubes, anything), there is always, i don' tknow, 15 mice to every 1 wheel so they are always fighting over it and getting their legs stuck in the spokes So, what is everyone's opinion on what I should do? I've talked to my boyfriend about it and he does what he can (sneaks in toys, extra wheels, snacks/treats) but they are always taken out. It's now been 2 months with 9 rabbits including 2 full grown lop ears and 7 growing bunnies and no one has bought any and as a mommy to 2 rabbits I know how much room they need and how they turn out if they aren't in good conditions for a long period of time. What should I do? Take pictures and send them to tthe BBB? Report them to who? help! I feel so bad, I even asked the manager if I could buy a big cage and take like 5 of them out and put them in it but he told me not to worry about it. I already stopped shopping there, I go to visit my boyfriend and handle the animals becuase they are NEVER let out of the cage or picked up or played with or anything.

A question about keeping hay & food for rabbits? I want to get a rabbit, and I found different info about this, so PLEASE help me: I know that in a cage a rabbit needs bedding (like wood shavings) and hay on the ground, but how much hay should I put? Also, since a rabbit needs a fresh supply of hay at all times, do you need to get like a separate dish to put hay in for rabbits to eat? Or do the rabbits just eat the hay over the bedding on the ground? Do you put fresh hay on the bedding EVERY day, or like once a week? Oh, and if you DO keep some hay seperate for eating, do you change THAT every day and change the bedding once a week? help - thanks!
Bunny Rabbit question? I'm thinking of adopting some bunnies (a bonded pair). I don't really want to buy them a cage, as the pair I have my eye on are 10- pound New Zealands that are 2 years old. I want to know how to train them to go in the litterbox and not chew on the furniture. Sort of like a house cat, you know? Can you tell me how much to feed them, when to feed, what supplies they need (bowl, bed, etc) (any specific brands or products you like, ie, "Rubbermaid 20 L litter bin" would be great!) how to train them, and any info/ links. Thank you! BTW I live in Canada, so stuff I can buy at Petsmart, Petcetera, Wal- Mart...
Should pet stores be used ONLY for pet supplies not live animals? Does anyone else agree that pet stores should not be able to sell live animals? I was a rabbit show yesterday where a woman was selling baby bunnies to another woman who was selling them in her pet store. The rabbits couldn't have been more than 4 weeks old! One litter looked about 2 weeks old! I know this because I am a dedicated professional registered breeder. Rabbits should not be separated from their mother until 6-8 weeks and even then should be sold until 8 weeks of age! These baby bunnies will most likely all die without their mother! I found this horrible! 10 baby bunnies were crammed into one tiny cage and then put in a woman's trunk to transport them from Ontario to New York! Also one time I went in a pet store and they were feeding fruit to baby bunnies that were not any older than 6 weeks and you should never feed baby bunnies any veggies or fruit until at least 12 weeks of age! I think pet stores should be only allowed to sell food, toys, etc...anything other than live animals! Do you agree or do you think they should be allowed to mistreat animals and take them 4 weeks before they should be? okay so to the person who work in the pet store do you know everything there is to know about every SINGLE animal you sell in your store? If so great. And do you socialize each of your animals daily? And do you screen potentiial buyers to make sure they are the best possible home for this particular animal? Okay there is no reason to call me stupid. Okay maybe your pet store is one of the good ones. But I still do not support pet stores. I have more reasons than those listed but I do not want to start anything. So okay your company may be okay but you are the exception not the rule. Where do you get your animals from? Are they vet checked before going up for sale? Do you get them from back yard breeders? okay ignore the last questions...But you have to admit you are one of the only pet stores that does this!! Do you keep them in an area where people are not constantly walking around them? Do you let everyone hold them constantly throughout the day? Umm no I couldn't do anything because it was happening in the parking lot NOT at the show. OMG just because I am a dedicated breeder doesn't mean I have the courage to go up to these people and start a huge fight. They were just using the parking lot as a meeting place...And wow you are being really rude for no reason... And to the person who works at a pet store. I am kind of talking about Canadian and American pet stores...I cannot apply my argument to you as I have never been to the UK. And I have many other reasons why I think pet stores are bad and I am very passionate about the well-being of animals but I am not an activist, I am a teenager. I can't go around just arguining with these people about not sellling these baby bunnies.
eating habbits of my rabbit? I recently purchased a 3 month old Holland Lop. I was told to feed him 1/4 a cup of food for every 5 pounds he weighed. He weighs around 5 pounds, so I have been feeding him 1/4 a cup of pellets every morning (and yes, he has hay readily available at all times, as well as an occasional snack at night like carrots). But I am not sure if the 1/5 of a cup is enough. He eats it so quickly in the morning that he doesn't have anything but hay for the rest of the day. At night I feel like he is hungry because he eats the entire supply of hay he has in his cage. Should I be feeding him more?

At night I feel like he is hungry because he eats the entire supply of hay he has in his cage. Should I be feeding him more?
Pet Store Services, What would you like to see?? My Husband and I are working on opening up a pet store in a few months. We have been talking about two different kinds of services we would like to provide. We were wondering what you would like to see more in your local pet shop. 1. Grooming in the pet store. I think that speeks for it's self! 2. Aquarium and pet serviceing. What we would do is come in to your home and/or place of business and service and/or set up your aquarium for you. We are also thinking of setting up and/or serviceing your hamster, rabbit, rat, etc. cage. We will also do reptiles and birds too! We will bring supplies, food and if you order 24 hours ahead of your appt. We will bring anything else you need from the pet store for you and add it to your bill! What do you think????? Which one would you like?! We would also love to hear your ideas on what your ideal pet store would be and look like. What you would want the pet store to carry ( animals & supplies, etc) Also inclued your state and city just so that we can see where these answers are coming from!!! Ideas are different all over the country! Thanks Jennifer Cottonwood, CA Love the ideas so far! I am from Ca. And it is very rare for a pet store in Ca to sell dogs and cats and 99.9% of pet stores are selling Dogs & Cats illegally! ( Never trust a pet store that sells dogs and cats in Ca. 9 times out of 10 they are not a good pet store! ) I will not sell dogs or cats. I will work with adoption groups twice a month. As for animals like suger gliders and Ferrets, they are illegal to sell in CA. Also Gerbils are too! Keep the good ideas comeing!!! Thanks, Jennifer

Bedding for rabbits? I have a fairly simple question. I have just gotten a bunny. I have all the supplies but i am seeking a cheaper form of bedding. The cage i have for my bunny does not have a drop section so i change the bedding about twice a week. I hear rummors of negative effects of unclean cages for bunnies so i tend to over worry. But the bedding is at least $3.95 u.s. Is there a common cheap form of bedding for rabbits im failing to see?
Everything about ferrets? I might be purchasing a ferret, i know lots about them i've been researching for like the past year (been wanting a ferret for 3). I would just like to know supplies i would need, i have a 3 foot x 2 foot x 2 foot cage, it's quite big, i talked to alot of people and they said that's a suitable size? I would be letting her out everyday. Is it okay to shred newspaper and put that at the bottom of the cage? I also have a homemade hammock that hangs from the top (it holds my very large rabbit so it's sturdy) would that be okay? Give me a list of supplies needed and what not. Also is there a better sex? Should i get a female or male, or does it matter? And how about litter training? Also what are some good toys, or games, homemade and store bought? Thanks.

Are these suitable reasons to report a pet store? The pet store I frequent for my animal supplies is rather nice, but I'm concerned about the living arrangements for some of these animals. I find adult male rats, six or seven or more!, in a glass enclosure not much bigger than a ten gallon tank. Earlier today, for the third time, I found hamsters in with the rats. There were about twelve medium hamsters, I believe Chinese, in a tank of the same size. There were syrians piled on top of eachother, fighting randomly. California and dwarf rabbits, three or more at a time, in a glass enclosure hardly big enough for an adult Californian to move around in. (I own a Californian, and I could never imagine him trying to live in a tank, much less such a small one.) I find puppies living outside in chicken wire cages near feeder rats and sometimes birds. Six or seven puppies to a cage about 3'x4'x3'. These aren't just baby puppies, they're rather large labs, chows, or shepherds. And kittens, still drinking milk from mom, in a crate being sold of
Pet Store Management Questions? What is the monthly cost for a good sized pet store? I am thinking of owning a pet store and want to know how much how much it would cost monthly which is including buying pets and supplies and paying employees. I would want to breed the pets so not as much do I need to know how much it is to buy them then to paying monthly costs like mortgage. Also, what is a good number of employees and how much should I pay them? Overall how much money could I make and how much would the monthly costs for the pet store. Thank you to all! P.S. What do you think of this name for it? "Liz and Cam's Pet store." That is my cousin and my code names. If you don't think that's good please tell me another name! P.P.S. What do you think good gallon sized cages for all types of pets are? Are ten gallons enough for everything from hermit crabs to big hamsters. Then for big reptiles to rabbits 30 gallon tank? P.P.P.S. What should I sell the animals for? Please give me estimates on most store bought animals so it is less than the other pet stores but still making enough money to support a family. P.P.P.P.S. I am thinking of sharing the Business with my cousin. How much should we each get to make it an even pay between us? Also how hard is it to breed rodents, fish, reptiles, and birds in a pet store. Thank you to all who answers!
