Can you put a new pet hamster in your old hamsters cage? My hamster died a few days ago and i want t get a new one. Can i use her old cage? can a rat be put in a hamsters cage? what about a gerbil?
Is it ok to leave a pet hamster in her cage for the weekend? We want to get a pet hamster at work (a children's centre)- obviously it would have lots of outdoor space and time to play and explore in during the week. But what about the weekends? The possibility of any staff members taking it home for the weekend is nil! Is it ok leave her in her cage with plenty of water and food for the weekend, or is this cruel?

Can I keep my pet hamster and my pet boa in the same cage? I have only one cage and I put my hamster in there and she peed all over herself. I took her out but am at a loss as to what to do. I want her and the snake to become friends if possible. The snake is 4 feet long and healthy, the hamster is average sized, cream colored and very cute! I just love her, but she is acting nervous around me now. sigh. P.S. This is not a joke. I've had the snake longer than the hamster. He's still small enough to contain in an aquarium. I don't believe in keeping large animals of any kind, especially snakes. But, I must have made a mistake putting the hamster in the cage, because now she is biting me. I just went over to her and she ran around the couch. When I reached for her she bit me! I don't have another cage so I don't know what to do with her until I get one. thanks a lot.

Can I reuse my old hamster cage for a new hamster? My hamster died a month ago. She was my first hamster. I cleaned out the cage and put it away for future use. I was walking by the pet store yesterday and went in to look at the hamsters. The sales guy told me that I would want to get a new cage for a new hamster. He said the old hamster's scent is on the cage. But, all the hamsters in the pet store were all in one big glass bin with each other's scents. Would it really matter to a new hamster? Would the old scent last that long on the cage? Should I wash the cage again? Was the sales guy just saying that as a marketing scheme to sell more cages?

What kind of product will keep down the odor of my hamster cage? Lately, I've been cleaning my hamster's cage about every three days because it smells. I use Carefresh bedding and super pet potty litter where my pet "goes". Whenever I open the cage, I can smell its poop and stuff. Any suggestions? Jewel- nothing is wrong with my hamster's poop. It's just pellets. It just seems- since my hamster is a baby, it makes a mess eating and it pees in everything to mark its territory.

How can I fix a cage for my hamster? I posted a question concerning hamster cages before and I by some odd chance found the cage I was looking at online at the thrift store for the dirt cheap price of $5. It's an old Guinea Pig cage 24x14 inch and 15 inches high. It's in PERFECT condition. I sanitized it and I really like it(especially for the price!) however, Im thinking for a young syrian hamster that the wires will be too wide apart. I dont want to spend too much on a cage right now because Im a college student and paying 50 or 60 dollars for a cage doesnt work well for me. I'd like to see if anyone had suggestions on fixing the cage I bought. Should I try buying some thin sheets of wire similar to chicken wire and line the outside of the cage with it or what does anything think I could do to make it so a hamster couldnt get out as easily? Or would they be a little cramped in it? How many rats do you think would be able to feel comfortable in that cage, because I was hoping to get 3 rats, and I think it'd be too small for them. Would the cage work better for hamsters? Would it be a little dangerous, because I heard hamsters can fall off of ledges? I have a new pet Hamster, how do i introduce it to his excersise wheel? Hi, I have a new pet hamster that I've received from my parents as a Birthday Present. Yipee! They made me in charge of it and all. He seems to adapt to his new cage nicely and is drinking plenty of fluids and is getting plenty of food. It's considered to be a dwarf Hamster ( smaller than most hamsters ) it can climb slanted play tubes to get to certain areas. There is this other tube how ever, that isn't slanted and goes straight up. He seems to be a good climber but he just won't go up. I'm wondering if that is because he doesn't want to, or if he can't because of this dwarf problem. Thanks! Please help with this dilemma. We bought a hamster from a pet store about 10 days ago, can it be pregnant? The hamsters were stored boy and girl in a cage. The hamsters we got are all females. They seem to be at least 2 months old. Is is possible for the hamster to be preggo? She seems to be getting bigger and lots more active. Can I breed my three year old guinea pig in a hamster cage that already houses two rabbits and a monkey? Why is it that people don't realize that when they take in an animal, they are getting a living, breathing, food eating, vet needing creature? No, no, and for the hundredth time, NO! MONKEYS BELONG IN THE WILD! This is why they are an exotic pet, because nobody in the right bloody mind would ever even CONSIDER buying one. It's even worse when people ask where they can get a cheap monkey. Because, you know, after you pay for the monkey, you won't have to pay for anything else. You're pretty much getting a child. Children are expensive. Therefore, it is safe to assume that monkeys are too. Though equally annoying: Can I put my chinchilla in a 2x2 foot cage and call it a day? Can I put you in an 2x2 foot cage in call it a day? Honestly, just because the animal fits in the cage, does not mean it will be happy.

can i move the petting zone with the hamster pups in it to the lover level in a crittertrails one cage? the mother hamster had the pups in the removable container.the pups are starting to move around a little now and i dont want them to fall down the tube.would it matter if i just placed the whole petting zone in the lover part of the cage where the mother would be closer to food and water?
Should I use a second hand hamster cage? Hi , this is raduban45 back with another hamster question, here it goes. My pet hamster recently died after a week in his new cage. His cage was a second hand cage bought on ebay along with his toys, I did not clean them before using so after his death I have disinfected the cage and toys. But Is it alright to use an second hand hamster cage to a new hamster or would it make matters worse for the new hamster.
