Bird Cage Accessories Knowledge Base

What is the best place to buy bird supplies/cage accessories online? (Good supply & good prices) I live in the US. Thanks!
Bird/cage/accessories/space question? I have a parakeet named (temporarily) Glinda and I have some questions on accessories and space. Her cage right now has a feeder, waterer, cuttle bone, tent, tree, wavy perch, dowel perch, swing with a bell and mirror, and a bell. What else do I need? Should I take any of the stuff out? How big should the cage be? Also we need some name ideas. We're considering Glinda, Crackers, Wicked, Polly, Sky, Cutie Pie. She is blue and white. Also, she is hand and shoulder tamed. What should I teach her next?
Opinions needed on bird cage please! (For single parakeet) Link provided for picture.? There's a birdcage I want that seems like it has a great design. It has a build in shield with a deep base and it looks like it really helps with the mess. But I called up a pet shop and the guy said they used to carry them, but don't anymore because it's not too functional and he didn't like that there is plastic used in it's design. I'm not sure what to do because I think it looks good. Is it bad to have plastic in the design? Please look at this cage and tell me what you think. It's for a single parakeet. Here are 2 links: http://www.zooplus.ie/shop/birds/bird_cages_and_accessories/parakeet_cages/42442 http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441816397&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302035924&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023691&bmUID=1172615564696&itemNo=1&In=Bird&N=2047584+4294961643&Ne=2 As far as functionality, I think he said that the cage dorr didn't always open well or stay closed, and that it can be awkward to reach the food dishes. It says there's no tray, that the top just detaches from the bottom part. That doesn't sound bad to me though. From anyone with experience with cages (I'm a first time buyer), are detachable bases a bad idea?

Does anyone have this cage? Is it worth getting and big enough? Please answer this question if you have this cage or have seen it and think its ideal. http://www.zooplus.co.uk/feedback/shop/birds/bird_cages_and_accessories/parakeet_cages/42442 Would this an ideal cage for a single Lovebird, can anybody tell me if they have this cage or a similar one and and if you like it. Also if anyone else can recommend another good cage for a single Lovebird. I am not going to put all my birds in pairs as i want to tame them so they will have this to themselves. Thanks Jazz They will be in a room with lots of other birds too. If i want them to be tame and bond to me i think it would be better if they where alone, I would spend most of the day with them. Yer, ok thanks for your answers. I am breeding my Lovies at the moment so i was going to buy one of these cages for the babies but i will think about a bigger one! Thanks!
How much dose a love bird cost? How much dose a love bird cost including cage and all the accessories ?
Who thinks this cage is the right size? I have decided to get 2 male budgies. I think the cost should be around £75.00 - £90.00,this would include food, cage, 2 budgies, perches, water trays ect. Do you think i am being too optimistic. I live in birmingham. Also do you think this cage is big enough. http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/birds/bird_cages_and_accessories/parakeet_cages/hagen/43683 i'm refering to the cage called Hagen Vision II Model L01, Large Bird Cage If you have any tips on how to tame my budgies then i would really appreciate it
What type of bird would be right for me? I'm mostly considering either a Blue-Crowned Conure, a Meyers Parrot, or a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon. I've never owned birds before, but have been around Cockatiels, Cockatoos, and Macaws. I don't want something quite so demanding as a Macaw, but would like something considerably more ambitious and challenging than a 'tiel. Noise level is not a concern. I need something that can entertain itself for a while. I'm still in school, so I will be gone for about eight hours a day. Other people will be at home some days, but not every day. Another concern I have is price. I have a budget of no more than $500 for the bird, cage and accessories not included. I'm not sure what the Amazons cost on average, but know that the Conure or Meyers Parrot would be within price range. Help? I'm very open to suggestions. Shortie - I wrote 'cage and accessories not included'. I have approximately $500 to spend on the bird alone. I've looked on several sites, and as far as I can see, I'd be able to afford the Conure at $400, and the Meyers for $550-600. Thank you for your help, though. (: I'll look into the birds you listed.
how much does it cost to get a bird? how much will it cost for these individual things and the total? cage food accessories anything else? bird and what type of bird would you recommend for beginners?

What's the best breed/species of bird to have as a pet? I want a bird that I can interact with and a price? tag of under $75 -- I am assuming the cage and accessories might run another $75 or so. Also important is that the bird, if taken care of properly, will have a fairly decent life span so that the bird and I can enjoy a long friendship. I forgot to ask if you could not only suggest a species but also say why, what the estimated cost for both the bird and its care, etc., would be. Thank you !! Which bird is better for me? either a budgie or a cockatiel, i think it would be cool to have a bird that would not be too scared to go on my finger and will be affectionate but it doesn't have to go crazy. it would be nice to able to talk to it but as long as it doesnt wake me up at 6 in the morning. be neat if i could get it to talk but its not nessacary. Also it would be good if it can whistle tunes... and i want to start out with$100 or less for the cage the bird and the accessories food and toys... is this possible

Pet Rat Suitable Cage Question? Hi, I recently posted a question about a pet rat cage. And after the feedback, I know I need to put something in the bottom to protect their feet on the wire base. So, what material/item should I put at the bottom to protect their feet? Also will I need to put anything else on the wire layers/floors? Also should I either cover the ramps, or replace with bird ladders? http://www.feedem.co.uk/small-animal-c129/small-animal-cages-accessories-c176/small-animal-cages-c177/sharplesngrant-chinchillarat-cage-extra-large-redgrey-p10258 Also which is more suitable for 3 rats, the cage above, or the cage below? I would like plenty of room, well, and so would they, enough for hammocks, ropes, and so on. http://www.feedem.co.uk/small-animal-c129/small-animal-accessories-c176/cages-c177/sharplesngrant-chinchillarat-cage-large-greengrey-p10256 Thank you

I can spend plenty of time with the bird. cages and accessories can all be taken care for but I'm a beginner at birds and I would wanna know if they make great pets. Will one of these cages work for 2 male rats? 1 --- http://regina.kijiji.ca/c-pets-accessories-white-bird-cage-x-2-W0QQAdIdZ311784171 This one DOES NOT come with accesories, it's a bird cage, if we put plastic or metal crates in for climbing would it work? #2 --- http://regina.kijiji.ca/c-pets-accessories-MEDIUM-SIZE-BIRDCAGE-W0QQAdIdZ314458348 Now this one is also a bird cage, will this work??? I can't totally tell because pic is taken by the wrong angle. Let me, unless you find a BIG rat cage under $100, more than 4 cubic feet, post a link, it will be appreciated. Easy 10 points. Please help, I REALLY want rats,11 year old girl. Responsibly and has been searching them to death since January
Will this setup work for two parakeets? I am equipped with one large cage and accessories + playpen. I want to get one bird first and bond to it and then get another in a small temporary cage and bond to it and then put them both in the large cage together. Would a small cage be okay for a few weeks or would it be alright to switch the birds every day or so until they could live together. Any input would be helpful. The purpose of keeping them isolated at first is so that they will bond to me and not just pay attention to each other. Also, if you have two hand raised budgies together would they still ignore you?
What is a good, cheap online Budgie or bird shop? For accessories, cages food and more. thanks xx
Who can I take my bird injured to in Peterborough, Ontario? I live in the Kawartha Lakes area, I have a zebra finch that is a few years old and she recently injured her foot. Since then I separated her from her companion as she was having trouble getting around and she has quickly gotten worse. She has depended on her other foot so much that she managed to injure it also, I am not sure how as I have limited her cage accessories to minimize stress and open the floor space for her to hop around. At this point she seems quite sad and in pain and I do not think I can help her, where can I take her to gain better assistance or request rehabilitation if possible? Thank you kindly.

What type of bird is easily trainable and non-expensive.? I was researching all over the place and decided i wanted to purchase a bird, i do not wan't an annoying bird that is required to stay in it's cage all day :(. I was looking for a bird that is easily trainable, can mimic, friendly, and can roam throughout my room. As i know birds are high maitenance and pricey i am willing to be that dedicated. Also i just wanted to throw is the the price range from $50 - 100 for the bird itself, i understand the necessities / accessories will be far more expensive in total. So please, someone help me!!! Thanks in advance. J.R
I'm getting a bird for the first time.....Help!? I'm getting a pet bird for the first time and I'm not sure what kind to get.... I know not to get a parrot, b/c they are for the experienced but i was thinking of getting a parakeet....and is there any accessories i should get except for food, water dishes, a cage and some toys, and what kind of toys??
Which One? Green Cheek Conure -or- Quaker Parrot? Okay, so my family and I live in the way back in this hellhole called an apartment. I don't have to worry too much about loudness because EVERYONE around us is loud beginning at 3AM to 12 Midnight. Our dog is loud as @^#& and we have no complaints(probably because they can't hear him over their own loud crap) Birds are allowed here just as long as they aren't let loose outside, which won't happen. So there are two breeders out here in New Mexico, they both sell quakers, but only one sells green cheeks. They have both when spring comes, and the regular green cheeks are about the same price as the green quakers. What type of food, toys, perches, and all other bird accessories do i get and where do I buy them? So my question is which one do I get? Which one is ideal for a semi-first time bird owner? Which one fits a cage 18x20x18? Any and all information is needed and appreciated by me and my family, who really wants a bird. Please and thank you :)
I need to know about the requirements of pet birds? I think I want a pet bird. I want a small one. I don't care if it talks or not. If I had an option I want a blue one. First off I need to know: Do I have to groom them? Can I turn my one story hamster cage into a bird cage for it? Does it have to stay in the cage all the time? Does anyone know what kind of bird Miley Cyrus's bird is? It's name is ZaZoo. Can you take bird with you wherever you go? I spend a lot of time at my grandma's house and I need an animal that can travel easily. Are they very expensive? Do I need to trim the feathers? What kind of accessories should I get for it? toys a mirror? And last but not least where should I buy it that is not super expensive?
Gaining the trust of a lovebird? I have recently purchased a 6-8 week old, not hand fed, lovebird. I bought a nice cage, I haven't bought any accessories yet, wooden branches, etc. I want to gain it's trust and eventually tame it. I have had it for a week now and he's chirping, eating, sleeping... We trying to stand close to the cage and talk to him and he's become more comfortable with us, but is still a little skittish. What's the next step? Am I ready for it? What are other ways of building a relationship with my bird?
I am planning on getting a budgie eventually, any tips? So I want to do a little more research on the bird but I want to start the research here. Are budgies good pets? How hard do they bite? Can they emotionally bond to people? How long do they live? What can they eat? What should they not eat? (food examples would be great!) How big should their cage be? Can I buy one or should I get two? What are some cage accessories to get? I have a lot of time, can I spend most of it with them or do they not like being taken out of the cage? Can they come to their names? Should I clip their wings? Is it safe to get them from a pet store or should I try a breeder? Any other advice, tips, or stories about your own budgie would be fantastic. This would be my first time owning a budgie and I want to get one young as I hear they are easier to bond with. How young can I get them? Thanks. Please don't be harsh! :)
Looking for CHEAP bird supplies!? I'm looking for some toys and accessories to decorate my parakeet's new cage but i need them to be cheap. I'm going to walmart to check some out but they don't have a great variety at the walmart in my town. My ideal price for each toy is <5. Any way, thanks...!

Is cage sand really necessary for Lovebirds? 'm in the process of preparing for my first Lovebirds (have kept budgies and finches before). Their cage is on it's way (size L x W x H: 75.5 x 45 x 90.5 cm) and I'm looking at appropriate toys and accessories to buy for them. I've used sandpaper for budgies and finches. I've seen cage sand in pet shops and online and wondered if it was necessary for my future birds. I'm also thinking of a perch/stand for letting them out of the cage. Do you think it's wise for such small parrots? All help is appreciated as I want to make sure my new birds are healthy and happy. @Misspensylvania, I have no other birds (I used to many years ago) so please do not worry. :@)
A Cockatiel or a Conure? Basically, I have to choose between a baby conure or a baby cockatiel [weaned] I am experienced with birds, so this is not for a novice, more for an expert. I just can't choose! I have a choice between a Pearl Cockatiel [Ready in 3 weeks] or a Green Cheek Conure [Ready in 6 Weeks] I have the cage, food, toys, accessories, time, everything for each birds' need. I just can't decide weather my next companion should be a cockatiel, or a conure. Basically I want an energetic, smart, friendly bird that will bond to me for life. What do you guys think? I currently have: A Rottweiler 2 Cockatiels
My Love Birds Do not mate? I have 2 male and 1 female (as told by the shop keeper). The cage of the birds is circular and I have put a Clay pot in it. I wanted to know how will they mate. and do i need to put in some accessories in the cage. How can a difference be made between a male and a female.
Sun Conures or Blue crowned conure? I want to get a blue crowned or sun conure and I have a few questions. First off, I would like to get a ball park estimate as to the prices of the two: which one is more expensive and an average price price of the two. After that the cage cost, how much they eat in pellets vegetables and fruits weekly. I would also like to know how much their toys and accessories would add up to. The good stuff that lets him have a blast when I'm gone. Another thing I must know is the time I should spend interacting with him. How many hours out the cage, training, etcetera. I would also like to know the symptoms to look for when choosing a bird. I know it's something us human beings should be ashamed of-selling sick birds and not helping them- but I don't want to spend a lot of money and get a bird that dies on me. Last but not least, the overall cost for beginning supplies. Including cage bird and a few toy costs? Thank you everyone! Rest assured, I will choose a best answer I thank both of you. It is hard to choose a best answer...
Getting 2 male rats, is this everything I will need? I'm going to be getting 2 male rats soon and I want to make sure I have all the supplies they will need to be happy and healthy. Here's my list: CAGE AND ACCESSORIES -Cage: Midwest Critter Nation (single level version) -Extra platform for cage (so in total they would have 3 stories to play on) -Bedding: Fleece liners (I will be litter training the rats) -Carefresh Ultra bedding (extra bedding so that the rats can make their beds comfy and have something to rip/shred) -Litter Pan with Yesterday's News litter -Piece of slate or rock to wear down their nails BEDS -Comfy bed: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753370 -Hammock (I will make my own out of fleece) -Coffee mug with fleece inside TOYS -Tunnel (an old sock :-) -Bird perch/branch -Rope to climb on (either a bird or dog toy with knots) -Wood chews (with natural flavors) -Ferret toy balls (will probably supervise with them since they are plastic) -Cardboard tubes -Wodent Wheel (large size)? (I've heard male rats don't use them much, so this is a maybe depending on their activity level) FOOD Note: I already know which kinds of food they shouldn't eat (orange juice, onions, peanut butter, etc.) -Water bottle -Two feed dishes -Harlan Teklad lab blocks 8604 -Dried and fresh fruit/veggies -Various other healthy foods (whole grain breads, cereals etc.) -Treats (e.g. yogies) MISC. -Safe animal shampoo for the occasional bath -Nearby vet and emergency hospital that specialize in exotics -Time outside of the cage everyday to play -Personal attention and love from me :-) Is there anything I'm forgetting? Thanks! I'll be adopting the male rats from a rescue organization where they have presumably lived together for a while and get along. I'm also trying to get rats that have already been neutered so that they won't be aggressive with each other. As for the coffee mug as a bed, I do have a rather large one that I think would be OK. If they don't fit, I also have a flower pot :-). I'm also thinking of using microfiber towels either underneath the fleece or as the bedding itself. They absorb fluids like crazy and are washable, so that might be better. It doesn't look like little rat feet can get stuck in the fibers either.
How to Introduce a Red Female Canary to My Yellow Male Canary?? I have a Yellow male canary and I want to introduce a Red female canary. Is it true that I have to put hem in separate cages for a while then get them closer eventually in the same cage? Since it is February, I thought if I buy the Red female and just put her in the same cage they will not fight. I don't feel for purchasing another cage with all of its accessories for another bird just for couple of weeks. I currently have a big squared shape cage which can fit more than four canaries easily . Can some one please give me an advice of what to do?? Thank you
ferret nation accessory? I have a ferret nation for my ferrets and I am trying to find something to put on it to help with the debris that my ferrets kick out of the cage. Anyone know of anything similar to the attachments for bird cages I could use?
Am I spoiled at all or not? I don't think I am, but I don't think that one can tell if they are spoiled or not. I just want to make sure. I am 13. I do not have many clothes (if I wore one pair of pants, one shirt, and one accessory they would last about a week), and I only get new ones on special occasions: Christmas, my birthday, back-to-school, travel. Usually I don't get new school supplies, I re-use my notebooks, penils, pens, highlighters, ect. As for electronics I have an i-pod and a camera. (Camera was for two Christmas's ago, i-pod was for one Christmas ago.) I usually don't ask for things unless it is necessary, like a paperback for school or shampoo or something. Unless, of course, it's a special occasion. But sometimes I ask for special foods while we're out on errands, i.e. 'Can we go to the bagelry?' My dad usually says yes but my mom says no almost always. This summer I've done about 50 hours total of community service. My family has gone to Florida to see family once this year, and we're going to Maine next week. We will probably go away once more before the year ends. As for pets, I have one bird who I feed alot and clean out his cage once a week. My parents have 3 cats, who are theirs, not mine, but I feed them in the mornings and sometimes the evenings. I get 2 magazines in the mail every month. When my mom or dad asks me to do something (that's not on my chore list, which I always do) I sometimes complain but sometimes not, but always do what they ask me too. Here are the things that are on my chore list: feed cats, feed bird, change birds cage, clean bathroom, change sheets, collect laundry, dust, collect trash, clean room. Some of the things my parents also ask me to do are get the laundry, empty the dishwasher, do the dishes, vaccume. So am I spoiled? I hope I'm not... and if I am, please tell me how I can rid myself of it.

Which one? Small Animals only.? Hey. I am going to be getting a small pet soon and I am not quite sure what to do. I've been researching A LOT. I fell in love with the idea of a rat until I figured out my apartment does not allow them. The three choices I have are... Guinea Pig, Hamster, and Gerbil. I would like people with experience to help me out. I would be placing this pet in my room, because there is not a lot of noise during the daytime (nocturnal). I plan on saving up for the cage and accessories, so size of cage does not matter at this time. I do live with two birds, but they would not be around the pet. I would prefer a pet that could live together (unless I choose a guinea pig. They are big enough already). I have been learning a lot about hamsters, but now i'm not sure I want them. The fact that they have such a short lifespan is a big bummer. I also don't like the fact that they at times cannot fit through their tubes. I just need some info on each breed. I've researched all I can. Now all I need is some people with experience. =]
What am I getting into here? Question about cockatiels? Buying a pair of female cockatiels from a coworker, I've always wanted to own birds so I jumped at the chance, I got a book on training/owning a cockatiel, and looked up what I might accessories I might have to pick up. I told my coworker I'd be interested and asked a couple more questions to discover that the birds are 2-5 years old (he is actually the second owner, he has had the birds for 6 months and the girl who owned them before him owned them 2 years, according to him, so 2-5 years is a safe bet) and they aren't used to being handled (to be precise he said that they try to nip you if you stick your fingers in their cage, which is something you shouldn't do anyway). He says they're very friendly and not afraid of him or his wife, they talk to him through the cage and will come up to his side of the cage when he sits near them, but he hasn't tried to actually take them out of the cage or handle them at all. His reasons are that he has a cat who wouldn't get along with them. However I really want to have the kind of bird that I can actually pick up and spend time with, rather than just feathered fish (which is what birds who stay in cages remind me off). So onto the question, given how old the birds are, and what I know of how they have been raised so far. Is it too late to teach the bird to enjoy being handled by people (or at least by me)? What other factors play into this? My gut says that if I play my cards right and follow what the book/internet says about training birds its not too late, it just may take alot of work, but does anybody have any experience in this? I've heard clipping a birds wings makes it more dependent on you, thus improving your relationship, and is 100% necessary for cockatiels who are prone to night frights. It seems though, that if the birds bite, or aren't comfortable being handled, it could be difficult and traumatic to clip the wings. How do you deal with that? I could go to an animal vet and get them to do it, but gee.
Male quail loosing feathers....help? My partner and i have recently brought two chinese quails as pets. we brought a female quail from a garden centre alongside an indoor cage and accessories. A few days later i brought a male quail from a cornish aviaries selling all breeds of birds. These quails are babies. When i got him home i noticed a few of his feathers on his back were missing. We put this down to stress and the fact that he was kept in a cage full of males. He seems happy enough but it has been a month and they haven't grown back, and the both get along fine. Today we brought 2 more females of same breed, as the was 'suppose' to make him less stressed. Now the new one is fighting with him pulling out more feathers and pecking him on the head. Im worried about this as he is not fighting back and seems to be left in the corner. The cage is a large cage and they get the recommended food. Any ideas? im really worried!
Is 1-inch bar spacing (on cages) safe for a gold-capped conure? Unfortunately, due to my family's circumstances, we will not be able to accommodate a larger bird in our home. We have decided to settle for a smaller bird, but I have already purchased a huge cage and toys. I'd like not to have to spend more money on accessories, but the one thing that concerns me is that a gold-capped conure (Aratinga solstitialis auricapilla)_ would find a way to get its head stuck in a cage with 1-inch bar spacing. Do any conure keepers out there know if this cage would be safe? thank you. I purchased the cage new for a bargain price from a private seller, and they are not willing to take it back, since they were more than relieved for me to take it off their hands. Originally, I was considering a Greater Vasa Parrot but the Vasa, due to its rarity, is much too pricy. My second choice was the Patagonian conure, but I have searched extensively but my efforts have not been fruitful. Does any body know any reliable breeders located in California?
i need help!!? ok, my mom said i could get a small pet that lives in a cage, but it cant be a bird, she said i have to get one that does not stink, and is easy to care for and clean up after what kind of pet can i get? and what accessories and kind of stuff do i need for it?
Lovebird Care. If you know something about birds visit this..pleeeeaase? PLEASE READ So, my friend knows I'm good with animals, and I really am. I've raised iguanas, snakes, fish, but I have never had a bird, except maybe the two finches I got last month. I know a little about them. So, i was given a lovebird, just one, many people say, that lovebirds get lonely, and bored, and possibly die if they do not have a pair, is this true?? well, mines a female, and so I asked my other friend to buy me a male lovebird instead of supplies for my iguanas.. but you know, I feel that she, my friend, will end up not getting a lovebird for me, or that if she will, she will get me one maybe 2 weeks later. (Oh yeah btw, I got this bird 2 days ago) So the bird's been with me for 2 days now, I'm letting her adjust to the new cage, which I'm sure is big enough. Now, my decision, I will not buy any luxurious or not really needed stuff yet, I'll buy them maybe 2 weeks later, when I'm sure my bird is healthy. All I will offer it is water, food and some accessories from my finches. But I will not buy a cuttlebone, swings, etc, etc.. Because I do not want to spend money on a bird that MIGHT be sick. Is this a good decision??? Next About adjusting, it's been two days, and they say birds don't get as stressed as other animals. So I think the two days have been enough, I need some tips on how to help him adjust to me.. Also, important, I notice every time I'm near him, she shakes.. not the whole body, but mostly the wings, like she's shaking in fear.. Is this a problem?? One more, Food tips, I know I can give them fruit and veggies like 3tyms a week, but what kind of fruit, would banana do good? carrots?
Is it bad to keep a budgie in it's cage and not take it out? I would like to get a little budgie but I live in a medium sized rv trailer and people are always coming in and out. Would it be cruel to keep a budgie in its cage and not take it out? I would talk to it and all and get a room ysized cage and lots of toys and accessories so that I could switch them out so it wouldn't get bored. If a budgie wouldn't do well staying in its cage all the time then what would be a good bird that would?
Is this a good idea/considered an animal rescue? I am thinking about starting up my own little rescue center in my home for small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils/mice, hamsters, birds, rats, etc... I have noticed lately that many people can no longer care for their pet, whether it's b/c they have to move somewhere that does not allow pets, or b/c they can simply no longer care for it anymore. So I have seen people advertise their pet rabbit or guinea pig for free (sometimes with all accessories including the cage). That's where I come in and take their pet and take care of it when they no longer can. I keep them at my house in clean cages, eating healthy food and getting all the attention they need. And then I adopt them out to nice families (for a small adoption fee) that will properly take care of them (and only families that agree with the adoption application). This would be a non-profit organization, and all the money I make from the animals goes to buying food and supplies for the other animals. B/c if you think about it, many people feed gerbils/mice and even hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs to their snakes (or other reptiles). And if they can get even a rabbit for free (and if accessories are included too, they can either keep it or sell it) to feed it to their snake, well what's stopping them? I know some people say to "Good home only," but the buyers could just lie to get a free meal for their reptile. So I am thinking about starting up a little rescue in my room for small animals like that. I am creating a website soon - and I just want to get some peoples opinion on if this is a good idea. Thanks! Thanks everyone for your opinion and information so far! And Sarah, I am a freshman in High school, so I do not have a full time job right now :) And Terra, thanks for your info. and your website! I checked it out and it's awesome! Keep up the good work!
7 new chicks out of nowhere? My sister brought home 7 baby chicks yesterday. They all are around 2 weeks old and they are very adorable! ( 5 yellow ones, 1 black, and 1 mixed). Anyways we put them in a cardboard box with a heating lamp close enough to them, a bowl of water, and some chick food (My sister watches them like a hawk). They haven't learned to fly yet (or glide/soar or whatever they do) but I may need to get a cage soon just in case. Anyways, my questions are: 1) Is there any household products I can feed them other than the bird food? 2)When should I actually go out and get the cage? (When do they learn to "fly"?) 3)When can I tell which ones are going to the roosters and which are going to be hens? 4)What can I let them have as a toy or accessory to their environment? 5)Is there anything else I can do to lead them to a better life? Thanks!
Would it freak out pet birds if...? you put them in a cage like this?? http://www.swisscolony.com/Christmas-Village-Gifts/Home-Accessories/Keep-Away-Birdcage-Planter.pro
