Ferret cage? Another ferret question- sorries! I have been reading up endlessly on ferrets and will probably be buying one very soon. I have read website after website, and checked out (or bought) a couple of books, but one thing that I keep getting different answers for is ferret cages. I will only be having one ferret (at least for now), and need to know everything that has to do with ferret cages. Size, bedding, litter box, water bottle; what kind of cage is the best, how many ramps? Does anyone have a specific cage they would reccomend? Pictures of ferret cages already made up would be great! Don't get me wrong, I know the basics and would probably be just fine with what I know, but extra help doesn't hurt. ;) Another side note is that I won't need to keep my ferret in his or her cage for very long, somebody is always home (I usually always am) and will be able to keep an eye on it. Also- how many litter pans should I buy for out of the cage, and what litter is best?

What is a good ferret cage for my two fuzzies? I have two ferrets, who are now 5 and 6 years old. Right now they're living in a fairly large Super Pets Deluxe Care Home. It's very well made and I havn't had any problems with the cage. The only issue is that it's beginning to seem a bit crowded for my weasels, so I've been looking for a larger cage with equal sturdiness, safety, and reliability. The Ferret Nation cage has caught my attention and I've read so many great reviews about it. The only things holding me back are the wire ramps and floor. My older ferret has a very petite build and I'm worried that her feet will get caught in the bars of the ramps and she'll injure herself. Also, I'm worried that the wire floor will hurt their feet and create messes. My ferrets are litter trained, but they tend to go outside the box too. I think the wire floor will be very messy for that reason. Right now I have Carefresh Bedding in the bottom of their cage so it is not an issue. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know :)

Is there any way I can turn a ferret cage into a squirrel trap? I have a 3 story wire ferret cage and a squirrel problem. I have already replaced the bottom tray with a 2 compartment plastic laundry sink, and without ladders my ferret cannot climb up it. There is also black gutter tubing running into the cage(It was supposed to run from one cage to the other, but I moved the 2nd cage inside.) How to install mesh floor to metal chinchilla/ferret cage? We have 2 chinchillas in a large metal framed ferret cage. It currently has plastic flooring, but we want to install mesh flooring with a litter pan for easier cleaning. Can female and male rats be housed in two level Ferret Nation cage on top of each other? I have two male rats and am getting two female rats. I am thinking about getting a Ferret Nation 142 cage or the similar Critter Nation cage with the two levels. The levels can be blocked from each other by pulling up and securing the ladder. Will it drive the male rats and female rats crazy to be that close to each other with no contact? I will not be breeding them. Just wondering if it would be better to have two cages in different rooms or across the room from each other.

How to keep chinchilla's poop from coming out the sides of Ferret Nation cage? My chinchilla is in the 1 level Ferret Nation cage. The cage is great but the problem is that his poop ends up on the floor. If I put bedding in there it ends up on the floor as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? Chinchillas cannot be litter box trained to poop in one place...plus you can't put anything plastic in their cage.

Can you add on to a one story Ferret Nation cage? If I purchase one level can I add on the second or do you have to purchase two and can only add on the third level? I currently own a SuperPets cage and am not quite fond of it. Tomorrow I am going to purchase a new cage and the Ferret Nation cage is a bit too much for me at the moment though I was thinking maybe I could possibly just get the first level and add on.

How can I stop my ferret from scratching his cage floor? I have two ferrets and I bought them the Ferret Nation Habitat Model 142 cage. It has plastic, texture floors that are wonderful for cleanup. However, when one of my ferrets is bored and wants out, namely while we're trying to sleep, he scratches the floor and it makes a horribly loud noise. Needless to say we can't sleep and it is very frustrating. I can't think of any way to stop him. I try to ignore it, since he wants our attention to get out, but it's simply too annoying so we have to move or get up. Any suggestions would be wonderful. Thanks.

How can I stop my ferret from shaking the cage? He come out to play during the day, and some more before we go to bed.. they get lots of play time. But it seems that my one ferret is awake way more often then my other one, and he claws and bites the bars of the cage. Not only is it very noisy, but I'm afraid he's going to break a tooth off. When do I know that it is safe to put my new ferret in the same cage as my established ferret? I have had my established ferret Oscar for about 9 months, he is now 1 year old. I bought a new ferret to keep him company, Lola, 3 months old. Oscar will hiss at her every once in a while when they are out playing. Sometimes I will see Oscar biting Lola and it seems like they are just playing because Lola never screams. So are there any signs that it is safe to keep them in the same cage?

How do I keep my ferret from pooping on the levels of a multi-level cage? My wife and I recently bought a ferret and just bought a multi-level cage with four levels including the bottom with his bedding. He started out using the restroom on one side of his bedding just like usual, but here lately he has mainly been using the different levels. Are there any ways we can fix this problem? We have a litter pan and had it in his old cage, but he did not like it very well and dug in it and rarely used it, so I don't know if this could fix it?

Would a 2x2x2 ferret cage be okay for a guinea pig? There is only one level, so the living space is basically 2'x2' but I will leave the wire part on because the pan is only like 6 inches deep and so a piggy would be able to climb out. Building a ferret cage, help with pricing? the dimensions are 36.5' x 2' x 2' I figured out how much the wood I'm using will cost roughly, I just can't seem to find a price for some kind of mesh wiring, I'm thinking something with 1cm x 1cm sized squares or something like that. Can I buy that at home depot? The wood I'm using is 2"x3" and I'll need about 5. Oh and for the mesh wire i need something that strong/thick enough that i can make a door with it. i actually decided that when i do the floors i'm gonna put down plywood then paint it whatever color i want then put a sheet of plexi glass on top of it.... i might put something on the plexi glass though so the ferrets won't slide...

Why would my ferret chew on her cage? Every day she sits and chews on the plastic of her cage, even when she's out of it. Even with a pile of food in front of her, that she does eat with relish, she will turn to her water dish and gnaw on that for a few minutes. She is passionate about chewing similar items. Why is my ferret destroying his cage? We just adopted a 13-week old male ferret 2 Days ago. Yesterday was his first full day in our home, which he was out of cage for more than 2 hours (until he pooped on the carpet and nipped my husbands leg.) When we put him in his cage, he fell asleep within 10 minutes. This morning, I woke up to find his cage Destroyed!
