Dog cage.......? Where can I buy a dog cage for a large dog? The cage needs to be about 42-48" tall. I have looked at Petsmart and the cheapest one this size is $100. Is there anywhere I can look that might be cheaper? Or any suggestions on how to make one myself? I'm not looking for anything fancy, I just need something to keep my dog from chewing up my stuff while I'm at work.

Need advice on building dog run / cage please? I have a lab and indoor cats and just bought a new house. Ultimately I want my animals to be SAFE and secure but the dog needs to be able to get out on his own to potty during the day. I plan to put a doggy door in a wall where the animals can come and go in and out at will. I would like to build a dog run /cage that attaches to the house so once the animals use the door they enter into this secure cage. I would like to make this out of some nice hard rubber mesh or metal with hard rubber coating to it doesn’t heat up or rust easily. It will be fully secured so nobody can easily steal the animals. I was planning on building it 6 inches off the ground where I can put trays under it to catch the waste for easy cleaning. Our friend build a very nice run for his cats out of the same mesh he uses for lobster traps but not sure where to find it. The run will be 4 feet deep by 15 long and 5 high. Any ideas, recommendations would be appreciated.

Do I have to put water in the cage for my dog every night? I have a 7 month year old Shih Tzu and his cage is rather small. Do I have to put water in his cage for him every night? I'm afraid it'll obstruct his sleeping position or he'll overturn it because his cage is rather small.

Why is my dog acting up in his cage? My dog used to like his cage. It was like his home. He would go in when he's tired and he would eat in there and everything. But for some reason in the past few months he hates him cage. He barks like crazy in it and won't sleep in it anymore. The only time he's quite is when no ones home. How do I get him to sleep in it, stop barking ect. Well I try to not put my dog in his cage for too long. I never use the cage as punishment. Usually if he wants out we let him out.

How do i retrain a dog that has been used to his bed in his cage? We have a 1 year old dog which we got from the dogs home the vet advised us to train him with a cage which we did and works great he very rarely does his business in his cage and sees it as his bed and will go in on his own when he is tired.We only lock it when we go out and then leave it open all of the rest of the time. Our problem is now that the cage is big and bulky and would like to get rid of it for space reasons and we have tried to go out and leave him out of the cage but he goes wild, the neighbours said he howls the place down and when we come home hes panting because he has been running from window to window and getting generally stressed. How do we get him to use a normal bed during the day and be calm so we can get rid of his cage for space reasons.

How do ik when its the right time to keep my dog out of her cage? I havn't had my dog for that long, i just adopted her from the pound, and she's a year old, and she's only went potty in our house once, but that was the only time. My dog pees in his cage every day while im at work and every night - How do I stop this? He is an English Bulldog and he is 6 months old. I feed him in his cage, this was suggested by a vet to stop this behavior but it has not worked. He is too young to not be in the cage when he is alone, its not like he is living in cramped quarters, it is plenty big. As for keeping him outside, I live in the city and I am not about to leave him outside and risk getting him stolen. Bulldogs do not do well with extreme weather conditions either and Ohio weather can be unpredictable. He is also entirely too strong to be in anything other than a metal cage, I have tried these and he somehow got out and that was not good at all. Training pads and items like that also do not work because he tears them to shreds.

Is it cruel to kennel/cage a dog all day? My son usually walks our dog a couple times a day. The next two weeks, however, my son is at his fathers for visitation and away at camp and there is no one to walk the dog while I'm at work. I don't want to go home every night to messes...and there is no one I trust enough with my house key to ask to walk him. His kennel/cage is pretty big, he's not cramped up in it. Would it be considered cruel to kennel the dog while I'm away from the house, just for the 2 weeks my son is gone?? His kennel IS inside my house - can't leave him outside all day, my yard is not fenced and we have tons of wildlife in my area. OK maybe I wasn't clear enough. My dog would only be in his kennel during the day - NOT 24 hours! I would let hm out as soon as I got home from work & take him for a good long walk. His kennel is a cage that sits above a tray so if he were to do his business, he would NOT be lying in it. He has a big soft beanbag to lie on & his food/water dishes fit nicely.

We have taught her to go to the door when she needs to go potty. We can leave her in her cage for 5-7 hours a day and she has no accidents. When we come home and let her out she goes outside like 4-6 times within a 4 hour period.
